How do I do pause dialing?
|
|
The first thing you noticed is that there is no button on the phone that let's you enter a pause. The way you do pause pause dialing is from Contacts. You enter the number you want to dial, then use commas for the pauses. In order to create a Speed Dial button with pauses, you would do the following steps:

Create Contact - Create a contact in Contacts, or the PIM program that you are using (i.e. PocketInformant, AgendaFusion, etc.). When entering the telephone number, use commas for the pauses. For example, to check your voicemail, you might enter a number such as 123-555-1234,4444,444#. In this example, the number to dial is 123-555-1234, we paused, then we entered 4444 as our extension, and finally a pause, and then 444# as our passcode. Some voicemail systems use # for enter. You can use these in your stored number. Also note that you can put multiple commas together to create longer pauses.

Create the Speed Dial Entry - Next you open the Phone application by pressing the green button. Then select Speed Dial. Then select New. This will list your Contacts. Scroll down the contact list and select the number you entered in the first step. For frequently called numbers, such as a voicemail number, I prefix the name with a small "a" (WorkPhonemail becomes aWorkPhonemail)so that it is easier to find in my contact list. That also puts it at the top of the Contacts list for this step.

If you do not want to save the number as a speed dial, you can dial it from contacts and the commas will work. You can also use copy and paste to move a number into the dialer. The only thing you can't do is enter the commas directly in the dialer.
