SMT5800 WM 6.1: Headphones cease to work

Hi there. Upgraded my Verizon SMT5800 to WM 6.1 and lost the ability to play music through the headphone adapter. This is a problem several people out there have had after upgrading – I think it’s universal and those that don’t report it simply haven’t checked. The phone will play through the speaker but not the headphones.

My theory is that there’s a registry setting that might fix this but I don’t have the skills to figure out which. Either that or it’s just a nasty bug. Does anyone have any advice?

Here’s a thread that has a little more info: SMT5800 Upgrade to 6.1 - Media Player not working through Headphones

If anyone can help me I'd sorely appreciate it. Thanks

This happened to me too- annoying. This is what I found out. If you plug the dongle in, but not the headphones, then start playing the file, *then* plug in the headphones, it works. If you pause the file, you have to unplug the dongle, and do the whole process over again before it will play. This is a software bug that has been completely ignored and it has made me want to ditch the phone.

I appreciate your suggestion. However, your particular work-around doesn't work for me, which sucks. Does anyone have a technical suggestion for fixing this?
