Restoring Comm Manager

I just got my smt5800 from Verizon, and was disappointed to find that the comm manager doesn't work for data connections (the button is disabled). I am on "pay as you go" data, so I wanted to be able to turn it off to make sure I wasn't using it by accident.

Does anybody know how to re-enable the button, or have a program that will disable the data connection?

The comm manager doesn't really control the data connection. It just turns it on and off. If it is grayed out, it means there is no data connection at the time. If you make a data connection manually, it will come on, then selecting it will cancel the connection. AFAIK there is no way to disable the connection from the phone. The phone uses the data line to handle MMS so disabling the data connection would cut that off as well. If you don't care for MMS you can call Verizon and have them put a data block on the account. This will prevent any data connections.

My Q9c had registry settings that will make you put in the password to access data but SMT5800 does not have those in it's registry. Did anyone figured out how to block data without putting data block on the account?
