yup... I did it with a regEdit.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs

and edit the String for "home" to your desired home page. So for google, make it "http://www.google.com/m" (Minus the quote signs... the /m is for the mobile google page, but if you don't include it, google is smart enough to add it for you!)

No problem at all!
I think this was one of the very first things i did... gotta have Google as my home page doncha know!

I do however find that even though it is set in the reg, sometimes it will revert back to the default handanGo that verizion has set for this phone, even though when i do "Menu -> Home Page" it takes me to google. Not really sure what's up with that... but a reboot of the phone will usually take care of it.

ok two things,
Home screen only shows the next appointment, can it show more?
This phone freezes a lot more than I'd like. The only thing I added was the DoMaCo New Word/Excel hack, but the phone has frozen a dozen times in the first two weeks!

I may bite the bullet and move to the i760.

Not that I'M aware of... that is, not without some third party apps to do it for you.

Can you be more specific, what are you doing when it freezes?

There are some known freezing issues with this phone. I think alot of that will be rectified when a new firmware is released tho, in the mean time you really have two options.
1- Learn what they are and how to avoid them.
2- Well, like you eluded to above, get a different phone.

You could also try a hard reset and rebuild.

How does one do a hard reset on a 5800 when the phone is frozen and you can't get to the Clear Storage System Tool?

As you can see from my avatar, I exercised my "Worry Free Guarantee" and went with the i760. I think the lack of a touch screen was starting to get to me. Good luck to you all.

Well, if you've yanked the battery for a few seconds and it still is frozen then you might be bricked.

You could try this:

I tried that when my first 5800 froze on a power up and it didn't work. Funny since this is the way most HTC phones are reset.
