I just ordered the SMT5800, and had a few questions. This is my first smart phone so these questions may sound stupid to most of you. I have read that it charges through the mini-usb port and was curious if the chargers for my Moto razr maxx ve are compatible? Can I use mp3 ringtones on this device? Can I use custom wallpapers? I may have more questions in the future. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Chris...
Yes, SMT5800 will charge with a razr's charger or it will charge with a normal USB cable, with windows vista just plug it in no drivers were necessary for me =).
Yes you can use ring tones with this phone, simply drop the mp3 songs into the my ring tones folder inside of the file browser and in sound setting select the correct ring tone file, no hack required.
Yes you can use custom wall papers...simply add any image into the pictures folder and select as usual...
Ask me if you need to clarify anything...
Does anyone know how to use a mp3 song as an alarm ? I can only set it for ring tones to use a song mp3.
So by the above post I can assume the smt5800 has an alarm, right? That was going to be my next question. Also, is there anything I should be look for since this my first smart phone? Games, were do I get 'em?
Another dumb noob question how do i get the programs or games onto the smt5800, micro sd, or usb transfer, what?
Also the ring tone thing, would I transfer them the same way as a program? I was getting my tones from myxertones.com, but I cant find teh smt5800 on ther list of devices. Any other site that will send teh tone directly to my device.

Im having some trouble with my SMT5800, for some odd strange reason, whenever I try to send a MMS message, it keeps giving me "Media Message Notification, Message Delivery Failed. Or Message Receipt Failed." Weird thing is that when someone sends me an MMS message, I can't download it. Im wondering if it has something to do with the settings? Or if anyone knows what I can do to fix this problem.
Do you have a data block on your phone? This will prevent any MMS from going in or out. On a smartphone like the SMT5800, MMS are considered data. You only get charged the standard MMS rate, not data rates, but you need the data plan in order for it to work. If you don't plan on using the data plan, get the pay-as-you go plan. This will allow MMS without getting data charges, unless you actually do something that uses data.
There is no way to block only the data path and still allow MMS.
I use Audacity (Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder) to cut sound files down to size and save them as MP3 files. Audacity is free, although it's not always easy to learn. I'm writing a book on it, but sadly it's not finished yet.
You can use a piece of music, a recording of a friends voice, or a sound effect. When my wife calls me, my phone announces "I love this man!" OK, it's a little embarrassing, but it works.
I just got the Verizon SMT5800 and I'm having a hard time trying to sync music from my computer as well as getting ringtones. The instructions say to open up windows media on my computer, click on the sync tab, and then select the device and follow instructions but when I click on the sync tab it doesn't give me any option to select a device. Also, before I was using freeringers.net for ringtones and although that site works for this phone but the quality of the ringers sucks. I saw a previous post that said to drop the ringtones folder into the sounds or something but I have no idea how to do that. On my other phone I bought music off of VCast and stored it on my memory card but when I tried to open those files on this phone it tries to acquire a license and then just won't play the songs at all. Can anyone help?
To synchroinze files, you first need to setup an ActiveSync connection. This is for Windows XP. Vista uses something different and I'm not sure if that can still sync music. During the ActiveSync process it will ask what you want to sync. There is a media option on the bottom of the list. Make sure this is selected. When the ActiveSync process is done, open Media Player and it should show up.
For ringtones, again from ActiveSync, hit the explore button. This will bring up a folder saying mobile device. There will be a My Ringtones directory. You can place you ringtones or MP3 files in here and they will show up as ringtone choices. You can also choose My Windows Mobile-Based Device then Storage Card. This is the memory card on your phone. Place your sound files here in the root of the card and they will become ringtone choices.
I've never used VCast so I don't know if those files are DRM encoded. If so, they are linked to your old phone and you cannot use them with your new phone.
