This is a new phone and a new forum. I thought it might be good for users to introduce themselves, what phone they are coming from, why they chose the Imagio, and primary use (business, pesonal, fun, etc). How do you like the phone so far.
I'll start.
I am coming over from the Samsung I760 and previously had the I730. I love the quality of Samsung phones.
I am an IT Consultant and business owner.
I bought the phone because it was the only VZW phone with WM 6.5. I did not want to by the TP 2 with 6.1, get it tweaked only to wipe it out and have to start over when the WM 6.5 upgrade started.
My phone is for business as I need the instant synching to the company Exchange server and I live in a car (sometimes a plane) going from client to client. I will admit that the TV is a nice touch since you have the option for 3 bucks a day and it has several ESPNs and the majort networks. It is nice to be able to catch a game at an airport or some other location.
So far (one week tomorrow), this is the best phone I have ever used. You can read my details elsewhere.
History of phones ==> xv6600, Sammy i730, Treo 700Wx, Sammy i760, xv6800, Omnia (drove me CRAZY), Imagio!
Really enjoyed most of them but the Omnia's small keyboard and my thick fingers didn't jive. The Imagio's keyboard seems to alright so far.
I am an Occupational Therapist with multiple hobbies including tech, photography and various other things.
I wanted the TP2 due to the bad experience w/ the Omnia's KB, but VZW was out of stock and I couldn't wait...so I have had the Imagio for about 2 weeks. I love it!
My phones - XV6600, XV6700, I760, XV6800, Touch Pro, Imagio
My favorite phone in the past was the I760, but it was replaced by Asurion with the XV6800.
The Imagio is my first PDA with a soft keyboard and I believe one I get one that I customize to my liking, that wont be a problem. I am in love with the WVGA screen. I too heard a lot about the sound quality being bad but I think the sound quality is better than any PDA I had in the past. The speakerphone however could be a little louder.
I am currently active duty in the US Air Force waiting to ship, a volunteer police officer with a local city, and work as a tech for a laser printer repair company.

Welcome aboard the forum. I think there must have been earlier releases of the ROM are it just varies from city to city because the call quality is fantastic even through bluetooth in a car.
I agree the speaker phone is not top notch but is very usable and I rarely use speakerphones from a cell phone.
I like this phone better than the I760 only because I felt like I was running 100 different hacks in order to make the I760 have the presentation and functionality I needed. The Imagio has the majority of it built in and then I downloaded the apps I needed such a a call blocking program which I quickloy downloaded off the marketplace.
Of course ask me in about a year and then I can give a better comparison. I hope the Imagio is built as well as the Samsung as they are top notch in quality!
Hi - I'm coming from the i760. I loved that phone and managed to do some pretty cool things with it. Chose the imagio because the one thing I didn't like about the i760 was the bulk, and i wasn't afraid of the soft keyboard after using one on my ipod touch for a while.
For those of you using the verizon tv... have you heard of a slingbox? All of your home tv channels on your phone anytime with no monthly fee!

I have a slingbox at home and am going to install the Slingbox Mobile software.
However, keep in mind that the software uses the kickstand to get on its own network and sometimes there are games that I can watch on the VCast that I may not get in my home market.
However, I have not used anything outside the preview channel to this point and I would only pay 3 bucks for daily use if I was traveling and missing a game.
I have a DIVX player installed and would just assume watch movies/TV that way when traveling.
I too came from the i760. Started out with the Kyocera 6035/Samsung smart phone (before the i730 don't remember model)/i730/i760 and then this phone.
Pros: So far this phone is pretty cool and surprisingly the on screen keyboard isn't too bad. I have fat fingers and it is difficult, however, with the x9 turned on it seems to get the words that I type it decently. Coverage is the same for me as well as my older programs from my i760 are running on the 6.5 system without any problems so far. Touch flo system is responsive and I like the new system. I pretty much used my fingers with my i760 and it didn't work well most of the time, but with this phone it works well.
Cons: Battery life sucks, Vcast crap installed and especially that retarded tv on the top of my screen with the exclamation point. Memory usage. Upon start up my memory usage is up to 66% without running anything. That is weird. Start up programs are what I would assume are normal for this phone, nothing that I installed in in the start up folder except pdanet. Text messaging. Seems that you can only start a text message in land scape, but then as soon as the person replies back then you are stuck in portrait mode and that is it. That is annoying because it makes typing even harder.
Otherwise, so far so good, only had this phone for a few days, we'll see what happens.

Hello All...My name as if you couldn't figure that out is Lonnie, and I'm located in Maryland.
I'm coming from a LgEnv then Motorola Q..my wife currently has the Samsung I-760..which I recommended to her...LOL
I just got my imagio on the 14th of this month and was debating between keeping it and getting the TP2 instead...However every day I learn something new about this device...I also like that it has the latest and greatest of what verizon is offering right now.
My primary use of this phone is to keep me up to date with my emails. I am a Data Services Tech..and the way that I get my jobs are through our IT Help email address. With this phone I don't have to sit in front of a PC all day waiting for the next job..I can be out and about talking to the people that I service...its nice to be mobile. Being that I support a Sheriff's Office and their Mobile Data Terminals I am on 24/7 call back, and many times a request for service will come through the email. This phone is my can do all. It is very nice to have every type of communication available to me in the Palm of my hand. Its nice to be able to remote desktop onto a PC and possibly fix it all from the phone. Phone, Internet, Email, Texting..SMS and MMS, Terminal Services...what else can I say about this device.

I've been travelling a lot the past couple weeks and have tried the vcast tv preview channel in a lot of different places... Have found that the tv network is unavailable in a lot of places where I still had a decent phone signal and was able to connect to the data network and use slingplayer.
Vcast tv allows you to choose which games you want to watch? Like if i wanted to watch an NFL game from another market this weekend that wasn't on tv here I could find it on my phone? I didn't know that... Can you explain further how to do it? All i can find are the standard channels...
This is my 5th PDA Phone (Kyocera 6035, Samsung SCH-i600, HTC XV6700, Samsung i760)
Was skeptical that the battery issues that I saw on the 6700 were resolved, and didn't want to give up the physical keyboard but the size of this phone vs the TP2 or the Omnia 2 pushed me to give it a try. I have to say I've been satisfied by the battery life so far, but I use data much more than voice on my phones. After 3 weeks I'm getting used to the keyboard and have no major complaints. On the minor side I do wish I could get rid of the stupid TV icon at the top of the screen.
Hey, Hey, Hey. Jonathan here. I'm in I.T. support and try, try try as I do, I can't get my company to let me use my WM device excuse me, "Windows Phone" in our Exchange enviroment, so I still carry a Blackberry curve 8330 on my hip. ugggh.
But my personal device has long been in the Pocket PC device. Long time Pocket PC user/enthusiast here but I'll just name the Pocket PC Phone edition \ WM phones
Samsung i700 -> i730 -> i760 -> HTC Imagio! So far this is by far the best phone I've had. who needs the iPhone, eh?
That said I just picked up my phone yesterday evening. I love the screen real estate and the I'm diggin the touchFlo interface. Still getting used to the apps and the layout. But I'm impressed with HTC as they appear to make great drool worthy products.
I was so sick of Samsung's Bluetooth hampering and quirks, that though I considered it, I couldn't bring myself to wait for and try the Omnia 2.
I'm looking forward to sharing tips and tricks with the group here.

Wow they won't let you create a rule on your email account to redirect your email to an outside address?
This makes no sense. Assuming they are at Exhange 2003 with SP2 or better then all the Windows Mobile featues are built in for free and it really wont take 20 minutes total time to export a certificate to your phone and enable Mobile services in AD.
I am sure your company must have purchased the Blackberry Enterprise Server but many companies are trying to discourage blackberries because of the exta cost wher Windows Mobile fits right into the Microsoft environment.

Strictly forbidden. I work at a Financial firm, subject to SEC regulations

90% of the things done at my firm make no sense to me. Unfortunately I'm just a peon (and regularly get "pee'd on") and don't get a say. There is no technical reason for the decision as I had successfully connected my i760 after we migrated to Exchange 07. I did so without prior permission. and was smacked for doing so. This is the world I live in... Pray for me...
I'm another of the Samsung i760 owners who's jumped ship for the Imagio. I was one of the first to get the i760, and was quite happy with it for the most part, but it had several quirks that I found consistently annoying (the Bluetooth issues, the need for all too frequent resets). When I saw the Imagio on some of the tech sites, I just had to try it. I've had mine now for almost 3 weeks, and I'm confident that it's a keeper!
For those who didn't know me over at the i760 forum, here's my particulars:
I'm a US Navy physician/flight surgeon (been in for almost 30 years of service)
My i760 was my first smart phone or Pocket PC; prior to that, I used dumb phones, and carried various Palm PDAs; dating all the way back to the Pilot!
I've been with Verizon forever; between frequent changes of duty station and even more frequent temporary duty locations, I quickly learned that no one else could match Verizon for coverage
So far, the Imagio has been a dream. Perhaps that's because it's simply an excellent device, or maybe it's because Verizon didn't screw with it as much as with previous offerings. Whatever the case, my Imagio has been rock solid after 3 weeks. I'm truly thrilled!
