I opened up Opera a few days ago & notice there was a Picturemail update available on the Powerdeck page. This update supposedly added:
1.) Audible tones for incoming messages and
2.) Contact matching & save to contacts (whatever that means)
After installing this update, I still don't hear an audible sound for incoming picture mail, nor do I see it listed as a configurable option in the standard sounds and notifications dialog box. The latter feature puzzles me as to what it even does.
Not to sound ungrateful, since it's a miracle to even have Picturemail, but there are a few features PM definitely lacks. One is the ability to open the message from the "new message" pop up, as you can with text messages. The only option is to dismiss the notification, not open the message. You actually have to close/acknowledge the notification, and then open the PM app separately. This seems counter intuitive to me.
Another feature that would be nice, is for PM to automatically scale pictures we're sending down to an acceptable size. For example, PM allows you to send picture over 300kb in size, but many networks do no support these sizes. Whenever I send my AT&T friend a message over 300kb, he gets an error that says the message is to big to open. On my end I have no idea how big the picture I'm attaching is, because the app doesn't tell me.
AT&T also has a feature in their MMS app where the sender gets a receipt when they send a message that was delivered. This is probably a network feature, not a feature of the PM app, but I'd still like to see it.
Any other features people would like to see?

Reason: should have said dismiss notification not reply

Yes, I would like to see it send a picture each time I try, instead of hanging up with many of them indicating it is still trying to send the picture, even days later.
ive been able to send successful pic mails to several different people on tmo, att, sprint. i have not had anyone on verizon yet. all have been able to get the pics within minutes..
