I'm curious if anyone has tried a backup & restore on their Diamond.
Last week, when I swapped my Diamond with a replacement, I tried to restore a Sprite backup taken from my old Diamond to the new one. The backup seemed to go well, but the restore failed & locked up my Diamond several minutes into the process. I did a hard reset & tried again with the same result.
I then tried a backup & restore with SKTools, and the same thing happened.
So I'm wondering has anyone actually done a successful restore yet? How about other backup programs like SPB Backup?
I'm thinking there is something specific about the Diamond (e.g., TF3D), that these programs aren't able to handle.
That's good to know. From what I read, SPB seemed the most questionable. I have another replacement Diamond on its way, so I'll give the trial version a shot.

I'm interested to hear how it goes. I have backed up with Sprite but have not tried/needed a restore yet...

I contacted Sprite and they confirmed that this issue has been fixed in version 6.5 of Sprite Backup.

Hi - I recently purchased Sprite Backup version 6.5 (build 95) to use with my HTC touch diamond. I have done several backups to the internal storage on my device, but have not yet attempted any restores.
I read on your forum that there was a known issue with 6.2.2 and restoring on the HTC Diamond where a hard reset was needed after the restore with Sprite Backup hung:
I've used Sprite 6.5 to restore after a firmware upgrade. I also had problems with the TyTnII hanging on restart which was overcome by redoing the firmware upgrade and restore after manually resetting the device in between.
However since restoring the backup, the contact name on incoming calls or SMS's does not resolve with the names of contacts in the contact list unless I re-add the contact on receiving new calls or SMS's (viz: any since the restore) - even if the phone number & format are identical to the numbers already in the contact list.
The people at Sprite were initially responsive to the bug and have apparently issued a fix, however despite numerous service requests, they still cannot tell me how to overcome the problem - or the best way of partially restoring - for example restoring the SMS message store from a backup and separately syncing the contacts list with Outlook. I odnt know if the the problem relates to t aregistry issue or something else. The documentation on Sprite is deficient in that the product options in the current version are inconsistent with the published user guide.
