TF3D: People

Hey guys, just wondering, what size picture you guys using for the pictures of the quick access people?? I used to have photo contacts (on my mogul) but all the pictures from there are blurry as crap. They were 200x200 and when i try to pick a reg picture for them it chops their head off. Is there away to select a picture and like crop it on the fly like in photo contacts? Thanks guys.

I'm using full 3.2 pics I've taken with the phone. I have 15 contacts stored under the quick access with no problem.

I've tried everything from 240x320 to 480x640 and nothing looked good. I hope we can figure it out.

The dimensions of the camera pics at 3.2 are 1536x2048... That's pretty big

I think I read somewhere that the phone scales your pics to 256x256 for the photo contacts. One person got better results when they scaled to that size on a PC first and used those.

Let us know if that works for you. (I'm on a 6700)

That's what I was looking for. I can crop em on my PC now so they show up how i want. The phone be default just centers it and crops.

I re sized one of my pics to 256x256 using Microsoft Picture Manager, and it's still blurry.

Here's some interesting info:

1.) I attached a 256x256 picture to one of my contacts from within the contact application
2.) On the People screen, I clicked the + sign to add a favorite
3.) I selected the contact I wanted to add as a favorite

Back on the People screen, the contact picture looked blurry

4.) I then clicked the Menu soft key and chose Change Picture
5.) I navigated to the location of the same picture from step 1 above.

The picture now looks clear as day. A screwy process, but it works.

That is crazy, but at least you figured it out. I think it is easier to crop and edit pics on a PC. Glad we can get what we want on the phone to look clear.

Try taking your pictures in portrait as opposed to the landscape mode, pictures look great not blurry and no cropping.

I used a program called S2V for the PPC. I copied the pics over to the internal storage, then used the program to assign the pic to the contact. I then deleted the pic from the storage. They look really nice.

So I've been playing around with this as I had to hard reset my phone. When I assigned a pic to quick contacts that was perfect before the hard reset it went blurry! So this is what I did to fix.
1 Assign a pic not intended for that contact
2 From Menu under quick contacts go to change picture
3 Assign pic you want

This doesn't work all the time. Sometimes when there is no pic assigned and I add to quick contacts it does it perfect first try. This is a weird bug that seems to have a few work arounds.

FYI I'm using one 640 x480 one icon low low quality and a ton of pics taken with the phone.
