The Diamond on Verizon - News and Rumors
Now that the Diamond is out on Sprint, I thought it might be worthwhile to start a thread discussing the Diamond coming to Verizon all in a dedicated thread.
I take it with the Sprint/Verizon comparison sheet that was released not too long ago there is some debate on whether or not the Verizon Diamond is actually going to be crippled since that did look like a Sprint marketing document, or if it actually is going to be....well of course..since it is Verizon and [sarcasm]of course Verizon never cripples phones[/sarcasm]
It should be interesting to see if any more news or rumors are released as it gets closer to the release date. Not to mention news or rumors on the release date and pricing itself.
So, if anyone hears anything, post it up!

Well what I've read on engaget (or whatever it is) is that the Verizon version will have a slower Processor and half the RAM of the Sprint version but it will have an SD slot instead of the built-in 4 Gig. Softeare-wise I dunno what will be locked down, torn out or crippled. Oh yeah, they said the G-sensor would be omitted. (Knew there HAD to be something ) I'm waiting for the Pro anyway. Or maybe the Palm Treo Pro as I've also read Verizon dumped the Palm 800w intro and is going the Treo Pro route instead.

According to the rumors it appears there will be a white HTC Diamond as pictured below:
I wonder if this possibly could be the Verizon version? I know they made the XV6900 white, so maybe there is a possible theme Verizon is going to try and keep going?
Based off these photos though it doesn't quite seem to be Verizon's version because I gather the Verizon version will have the curved edges and the extended battery (the whole device being thicker as well) just like the Sprint Diamond.
Who knows? Meh, thought I would post it up anyway.
EDIT: Now I just thought of something, what if that isn't a rendering of white, but stainless steel?
We already heard in the rumors that Verizon's casing will be stainless steel. Who knows, maybe they are going for a Samsung I900 Omnia kind of look? If the Verizon version looks like pictured above with brushed stainless steel, that IMO is much more of a lovable look than Sprint's maroon color.

The brushed steel look is HOT!
but... would be a total fingerprint magnet.. I recall a certain stainless steel Nokia device that was like that.
You Verizon guys should be getting the Diamond in October & the Pro in November, based on some info I've been given.

Oh, nice. I absolutely cannot wait. I hope they don't cripple it too badly.

That phone with a stainless steel brushed body would be beautiful. Shame Verizon will most likely cripple the phone. I can live with them taking out the motion sensor or the GPS (which they seem to kill in every PDA phone). But I guess on the up side, there will be expandable memory. I don't know what I'd do with 8GB of storage, but it would be nice to have that option. Either way, I'm just hoping the phone makes it to Verizon before I get a new phone in late December.
Also I question if that image is the Verizon design (or at least the final Verizon design) since it doesn't seem to have "Verizon" written anywhere on it.

That would be a damned shame if they axed the GPS, that is one of the things I really want in my next phone. And by that I mean it, GPS, not that VZnavigator. The expandable memory is nice. Also being able to pop the SD card out and use it for other things or just stick it in my laptop to throw some stuff on it/take stuff off on the fly if I don't have a usb cable.
The motion sensor is no biggie though, if they get rid of that I probably wont care too much, it is kinda a cool feature I must admit, but not really of much use to me.

Well, it was posted as a "white version of the diamond." It is my own speculation that the Verizon diamond will be white (as the Verizon touch aka xv6900 is), or stainless steel (as the leaked sprint document stated). This image could be either, it is tough to say whether that is white or stainless steel.
Also I doubt the Verizon diamond will look exactly like this. Of course we don't know anything for certain on the Verizon diamond, but we can be fairly sure that it will be similar to sprint version, meaning it will have the thicker casing and battery (notice how thin the photo is, this looks like the original unlocked version), and probably the rounded edges and whatnot of the sprint version.
It makes sense too, I am sure they will try to retain as many parts as possible. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the Verizon Diamond's appearance is EXACTLY like the sprint one, with the exception of having an unpainted stainless steel battery cover/rear case.
