Just ordered through Sprint...

Well, I was actually calling Sprint to cancel service due to the fact I just got AT&T internet service and they offered to match my SERO plan and discount the iPhone to $150. Of course, the Sprint Rep asked me why I wanted to cancel and I explained. She immediately offered the HTC Diamond for the same price of $150 plus some other little extras! I was totally unaware that the Diamond was available. She told me to go to the site and sure enough there it was! Not too crazy about the burgundy back but we will see. Should arrive this Wednesday. Anybody looking for a mint HTC Touch?

Now Available on Sprint

I ordered mine last night via the web for a whopping $615.00 (including taxes). Ouch!! I really wish I had a cheaper addiction than having to have the latest and greatest phone, but at least it's not drugs and/or sex haha Unfortunately I will be in Canada through Wednesday next week & won't be here when my new toy arrives, but will definitely have something too look forward too.

Anyone else get their order in yet?

Wow you got a great deal! I should have worked the system a little bit, instead of just accepting the full retail price. I've been with Sprint for 9 years though, and dealing with CS has always been an experience that makes me want to pull the chair out from under myself. It's awesome they took care of you though.

I agree with you about the burgundy backing. I would have preferred black personally. Black is a safe bet, professional looking, and doesn't require a period of time to pass before it "grows" on you. I really thought they hit the jackpot with the Touch's rubberized backing. It feels great in the hands and shows no little scratches.

Seidio, you have your work cut out for you with this phone!

Wow! Looking at actual retail I did get a good deal. I don't think I even talked to a retention rep. She didn't transfer me and was done with the whole deal in about 10 minutes. I guessed I lucked up and got a good Sales Rep! Imagine that!

I think I can live with the burgundy backing until someone comes out with an extended battery with a black rubberized door. (Hint, Hint Seidio) Just glad they went with the smooth backing instead of the jagged diamond back.

Yeah the original door looked really cool, but I hear it didn't sit well on table tops & was akward to hold on to.

8,
good to hear. thats the cost of being on the bleeding edge and having the latest and greatest bro! i think i paid a tad more for the 6800 last year on its launch....

did you order it thru the sprint site/telesales or di dyou go thru some specific person? last year on the 68's launch us early adopters had to go thru this one lady who could sell these thru the bizz channels...

im patiently waiting for the pro, but i look forward to reading your review of the phone. this will give me something to chew on while i wait!

enjoy canada!

Sprint was on the ball for this launch. At 10 PST last night, the Diamond was available for sale at SprintPCS.com. The ordering process was smooth and simple. I've read where others called Telesales directly around the same time & were able to order through that channel as well. It sounds like most people were able to get Telesales to shave the cost down a little either via rebates and/or service credits.

Look for my review when I get back from Canada! By then I'm sure there will be dozens of others though.

Oh and BTW I remember the lengths I went through to get a Mogul the day it launched. I ordered one through the web & one through telesales just in case lol... if I remember correctly, Telesales was faster even though I ordered through them the day after I placed my web order.

I'm in. Just ordered today. They said due to hurricane Ike, It could take 4-6 days instead of the normal 3-5 days. First, people are more important than my phone. My prayers go out to everybody involved. Anyhow, I emailed ecare and received a memo this morning that I did no qualify for a rebate. However, they would give me a $150 credit after I buy the phone at my local sprint store. So, I went to two local sprint stores today. First store said "huh? I did not we had that phone to sale." I showed him at sprint.com . "Oh, yeah we have not been briefed when we will get this phone." Second store, nice young gentlemen approached and asked how he could help. (He had a yellow ribbon that said in training or something). I asked about the diamond. He replied "could be a couple of days. I'm not sure. I think you can buy it online though". I replied," yes. As a matter of fact you can buy it online. How about here in a store?" He grabbed the manager. She approached and replied, "I think it will be middle of October until it is in stores". I replied "Are you confusing that with the touch pro?" She replied "No". Funny how they all give us a completely different answer??? On my drive home I called the infamous #2. Cust. rep. transfered me to the sales department. I had another gentlemen in training. Very polite, and said there were notes from a supervisor re: $150 off. He ordered the phone and said I would have to email ecare back and give the order number. Then the credit would be applied. So that is my Sprint experience for the day!!! Not complaining just having fun anticipating my new diamond

yeah expect stores to not have a clue, especially non corp'ed stores. the franchises may be a little behind.

True story:

earlier this year i walked into a sprint store looking to upgrade a phone on my account and the guy at the counter was like "whoa that is a Mogul you have? wow never saw one in person before "....

After reading your story, it appears that the "employee in training" was the most knowledgeable person you talked to.

The tracking # is posted on the "My Order" status page, but hasn't shown up in UPS's system, which likely means UPS hasn't picked it up yet. I'm guessing it will arrive tomorrow, which is perfect timing since I will be returning home from a business trip tomorrow early evening. Luckily there's a concierge that receives packages where I live, so there won't be any signature required/recipient not home issues
