diamond battery life

The battery life on this diamond is ridiculous, by 6pm my phone is dead!

I'll talk maybe 30 min the whole day and by 6 pm there is no juice, is it me or is the battery life on this terrible!?

P.S. The activesync is ALWAYS on, why is that?

I also noticed this phone gets very...VERY hot! Especially during data sessions, anyone else experiencing this?

My version is the CDMA version from Telus.

Regards,
Ali

The battery life is definitely a weakness on this phone. Hopefully some of the hacks out there will help extend it a little bit longer. It will also be nice if an extended battery comes out that doesn't increase the thickness of the phone, as it's already a little think IMHO.

Regarding ActiveSync, it launches each time the phone pings the network for the current time (e.g., when you go in and out of coverage, power on the device, etc.). If you are hooked up to Exchange it will also run continuously. If you want to disable it, then check out this thread.

For your phone to get that hot, I would think it would be accessing the network very frequently. Are you streaming radio, tethering, or using any 3rd party apps that require frequent network connectivity?

Okay, I have other to say lol. I had it on charge all day at work today. I left at 4:30 I listened to music, and looked on the internet, little bit of LiveSearch for about 30 min while on the bus. I got home right around 6. From then I turned on WiFI and Opened all the programs I could (could only get it down to about 85mb free LOL) I was surfing the web with 3 tabs in opera, messing with the youtube program, windows live, music. The works. It just died now at about 9:20. So it lasted 3 Solid hrs of INTENSE use.

I did notice, however, that the battery went from 10 bars to 2 bars quickly (round 7pm) then for the next 2hrs it stayed there. Then went to the critical alarms, and then finally shut down. I took the battery out held the power button for a couple seconds and then put it back together. Charging now.

I noticed last night it got really hot. This was during Intense use, AND charging. When i was testing the battery tonight, it did not get nearly as hot.

I think I read somewhere that these devices have a "learning curve" to begin accurately displaying the battery level. So it may low, but really be at half or more charge. I'm going to try and do this again tomorrow and see how well it does at reporting battery after that.

Nice reporting.... You are correct, in that it takes several charges on a new battery until you start getting the full benefits from it. I noticed that with my Seidio 2100 battery on the Touch.

Diamond Exchanced

Just exchanged my diamond for another. Heat issue and battery drain without use after only 10 hours. I was wondering if the battery drain could be caused by changing the active profile from 0 to 1, but then again that made the data connection work. Will have to see if the same thing happens with the replacement diamond.

I posted elsewhere, but since OT, has anyone explored other batteries for the CDMA (Sprint) diamond? I have found out a little more since posting and that is that the extended 1800/2000 versions will not work because the backs are compatible with the diamond faceted back, not the flat/red back units. As far as the GSM 900 mah units, not sure they will work either, but supposedly the P3702 battery does, as it is made for the CDMA 'victor' version, much like Sprint's. I'd be curious what others end up doing since battery swaps are easy.

I think I will be happy with the battery life, once I get a second and swap instead of waiting the 3 hours the 1,340 mili amp hour one takes to charge.

Get the latest Juicy's ROM here. This should really help your battery life, and ive noticed the device doesnt get nearly as hot as it did with the stock Sprint ROM. Keep in mind it also removes the Sprint Customized TouchFlo3D, all of the Sprint specific apps, Sprint TV tab, but at the same time frees over 90MB of ROM after hard reset.

Don't forget to unlock your bootloader first before flashing.

My battery now lasts till 10-11PM with moderate usage, and doesnt turn into a hot coal everytime i open the browser.

Those are all the things that make this phone so cool IMHO. Are you left with a stock WM 6.1 ROM?

It's not a stock wm6.1 it's a stock htc updated tweaked for sprint ROM. It doesn't have any sprint customizations. It does has touch flow and all the htc stuff just no sprint. I'm going to install later tonight and check it out
