I backed up my files n every possible data from the software provided with PPC (6515 a), but when i restored the backed up file, i was not able to see my previous sms and neither i am able to recieve sms, on the other hand all other settings ( phone book, ringtones etc are intact). I have tried soft and hard reset and the only difference that is being made is that at times i m able to see the sms feature with no sms and at times i m not able to see the sms feature (MMS and Outlook being only available). What should i do

and is there any way to view sms on pc , may be thru outlook, as i am a deep sufffer of all these so i keep a record of all my sms, but i am unable to find a way to do this time instead i have to type

and where are the sms and mails stored, what i figured out that sms was stored in windows/messaging/ but i am not able to find where are the mails stored

I had the same problem. After hard-reset, my SMS was working fine with the SIM card. But when I did a restore, Text Messages option was gone. In between, I noticed that the SIM Manager was now showing more contacts than it had originally. So probably same is happening with the messages, the Restore might be trying to restore messages on SIM which may be overflowing it. So probably 6515 restore is not able to handle the error and is turning off the Text Messages option. To solve this, this is what I did. I first unchecked SMS option under Restore options and restored. Still did not work. Next I unchecked the entire Email group option itself. And voila! it worked, I could see the Text Messages option and it even worked.

I had two occurrences of the same problem again where I did restore without unchecking Email and could again see SMS not working. Unchecking Email during the restore did the trick again!!
