Voice mail notification bug
Am I the only person who is really bugged (pun intended) by the fact that HP has never released a patch for the 6515 voice mail notification bug. I know that it is an old and well known bug, and I know the workaround (off in flight mode, etc...). But in my opinion, this is a very serious functional bug in the device, and HP never addressed it, through several major ROM upgrades. The problem is that I never know when the notification has stopped working. You have to attempt to open up the Tools-Options to see that it has failed. My unit fails frequently, and I often miss voice mails, some of which are important. I have to either 1) call voice mail every day to see if there are messages, or 2) check to see if phone options will open, then do the workaround reset. The fact that HP has abandoned the device with this serious and dangerous bug still present made me decide not to upgrade to the 6900 series. Who knows what I will find on it that doesn't work, and that HP never fixes. This is a rant, but I feel that prospective buyers should be aware of the lack of quality and commitment for support for PDA devices that is inherent in HP corporate thinking. "leave-em limpin and push out a new model" seems to be their motto...OH! and I didn't mention that LTO manager also fails and I have to reset or manual-update the AGPS data every other day...Another bug that has been in the device since day one.
