Hi, I am having the same problem as Nigg. I tells me incorrect SKU. and to make matters worse, I tried the following directions from another thread on this forum:
1. Download and extract both current and intended ROM language pack from HP site to the computer.
2. Establishing connection with the computer, copy EnterBL.exe to the mydocument folder of the PDA.
3. Run the EnterBL.exe from the PDA.
4. Start updating the current ROM using hpRUU.exe from the computer.
5. When it will start updating copy all the data files of intended language ROM pack to the current ROM pack.
6. At the end of copying, it might show an error message, press OK to ignore.
7. Enjoy and let me know for further quarries.
** after trying the above directions, I received the same error message about incorrect sku...
Now my iPAQ seems to be stuck running the EnterBL.exe. I restart it and it walks me through the set up all over again each time, then once I am at my home screen, it give me a 3 second warning (in French of course!) and begins to go back into a black screen that just says USB or Serial, and has the version number and HP logo. I can't do anything from there.
This is my first time with a PDA so I am completely lost.
so.....im on the phone with HP tech support...and i guess by running the EnterBL.exe from my pda...i have now cause my operating system to become corrupt.....he thinks i have to send it in....so clearly those directions were crap.
So Nigg, before you end up screwing up your operating system too, i would recommend that you call HP tech support directly and get their help.
They are sending me a box with postage tomorrow. They take shipping and handling out of the repair cost. Told me all in all (with shipping and repair) it would be about $100 to fix my operating system and send it back to me with the English operating system on it.
It seems to be a problem with specifically the g model of the phone. Because the operating system I tried to download (that got me wrong sku error) had every model listed under it (a, e, d, etc) but not g!!
This is the number i called:
HP and Compaq products
Warranty and out of warranty
English/French 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week for Most Products 1-(800)-HP INVENT or 1-(800)-474-6836
The auto lady is annoying...if you tell her that you have an ipaq..she will transfer you to AT&T!!! So i had to call HP back and basically push 0 and say no to her until she gave up and sent me to a live person. From there you can tell them you need HP tech support for an iPAQ and they'll set you up.
