2. Run the file. Go to the directory on your PC c:\bigrom
3. Put the SD Card in your reader and type copycard x: (Where x: is the drive of your SD card. In my case it would be copycard g
4. Put the SD card in your device. Say no if it asks to format it
5. Put the device in bootloader mode by pressing Power, Joystick, and Reset all at the same time. Let go of the reset before the other two. It will go into bootloader mode and after a few seconds will give the flash prompt. It will tell you to press power to proceed. It will take a while to flash. At the end it will say checksum failure, failed. Don't worry about it.
6. Press reset. It will appear to be hung but it is really formatting the storage area. It should take about 5 minutes. Then it should go through with the setup.
7. When done it will not load customizations (since there is no longer an extended_rom) and the file store will be 24 mb instead of 12.

OK. I am pretty sure I know what is going on. I tested this with two different cards before I posted it but I had done a device dump on each card. I think the dump formats the card special. So here is the instructions on how to do a dump before you do the flash.
2. Kill the activesynce process on your PC (the process is called wcescomm.exe)
3. Put the SD card in the device and boot into bootloader mode.
4. Cradle the device. Serial should change to USB
5. Start romupdate. On Ports pick the one that says \\ \WCEUSBSH001
6. On the screen type d2s. This will dump the device to the SD card. Pe patient as it does take a while.
7. Take the card out and reset.
8. Put the card back in the card reader. When/if windows asks if you want to format the card say no.
9. Follow the process to write the card and proceed like instructed before. On note, on the bootloader screen, it is dark, but it will ask you to presh power to begin flash.

OK guys (non gender related usage there) here is a cab to run to clean up the Release folder shown in the storage after do the bigstorage upgrade. You only have to run it once after each hard reset. http://www.filefarmer.com/dmc874/bigromfix.zip
Unzip it and move the cab over to your device and run it.

This was oringinally posted for the Gereral European version of the 6515 back in August. I'm not sure that it would work on the Cingular versions being currently sold- And I'm not willing to try it as mine works well without any memory slowdowns. You can load most programs to Mini SD or SD cards.

I saw this thread a while back after looking at the 6500 as a replacement for my 6315. Since then I've picked up a Qtek 9100 (HTC Wizard).
I know this is not the thread for Wizards, but I'd like to know whether a program like this can be written for the Wizard to unlock the extended rom for extra storage. This being WM 5, I don't know if there is anything that can do this, but....
