Atomic Cannon v2.0 works for me. I installed it and it operates normally. Some text is overlayed on text in the Settings screens, but does not affect the setup nor gameplay.
John, Good to hear. I know they have a new game coming then they are going to make a special version for the 240x240 crowd. My 6515 will be here in the next day, getting the RAM upgrade then its showtime next week.
Congrats on your new baby. Let me know what you think of the PPCTechs upgrade. I have been quite satisfied with mine so far without the upgrade, but may break down and do it because I know I won't be satisfied.
Supposed to be here tonight, its out for delivery. It leaves tomorrow for PPCTechs. I have never done the RAM upgrade but have read very positive things about it. I want more RAM more than I want WM5.
- I have installed TomTom Navigator 5.0 USA maps full version and it didn't work until I applied the TomTom 5.1 update for the hw651x. I was also able to load the maps to an SD Card. The app runs much quicker with the added RAM than it did with the original 64MB.
- I also have used eBooks Pocket XM Radio, which is really an interface for the online streaming version of XM. It does, however, work with a standard GPRS connection (at around 40kbps.)
I am traveling to Baltimore this weekend and will check out EDGE speeds while there.
Handy Menu - Access to device settings
Handy Launcher - Access to favorite apps
Handy Switcher - Task Manager
Mem Maid - Cleans up your pda house
All of their apps do work and the email I received said November for FULL Support of 240x240 display. I can use them just fine but the balanced screen layout will be here soon.
I'm curious about using additional maps with TomTom.
I upgraded from the included version to 5.1. (via the web link)
So far, all I can find is the option to add city maps. However, I'd prefer regional (such as southeast USA) for use when travelling between cities. Is this possible? Where/how do you acquire such additional maps? (I know I have to buy them, but I can't find a link to buy anything but city map..)
Also, how do you go about storing them on SD instead of My documents? Does TomTom just figure out where they are automatically?
Thanks...that looks like the smartest way to go in the long run.
Have you tried this on your 6515?
The compatibility tab does not explicitly list the hw6515 (does the included s/w work on 240x240?). But, since I have the software, all I really care about is the maps...
Are all v5 maps compatible?
Then, it's just a matter of moving them from the CD to SD cards or internal iPAQ memory??
I'd appreciate any personal experience with that config...thanks!
I have TomTom 5 full USA and Canada maps. The maps can be loaded to an SD or miniSD card. When you start TomTom, you can select which regional maps to use... you will need to activate them as you use them. As long as you have the hw6515 TomTom update, the maps will work fine in 240x240.
Don't run the installer program for the TomTom application as it will install the WRONG version (for standard 320x240 screens) and won't start. Just install the maps.
I bought my TomTom maps from TigerGPS for $129.95 plus shipping. It was in stock and ready to ship... I got it two days later. Very pleased!
I just received a copy of Arkon's MobiNavigator GPS Software & Maps for North America & Canada along with their new CM805 GPS powered pda mount. I will be putting it through the paces over the next week or so and then writing up a full review for our site.
I sent it back unfortunately due to technical issues that could have been with the 6515 I was not able to do a full review so I returned the products. One issue I ran into was the GUI display was cut off, but the maps looked ok on the 240x240. So sorry no go on it, and the TomTom does work well for me.
