No Valid GPS Signal error on a 6515

Hello, newbie to this forum but have been using my 6515 for the last 3+ years. For no apparent reason, I cannot get Tomtom 5 to work for the last few weeks. Was working perfectly before. Now getting the No Valid GPS Signal error. I have read many posts on many forums. Tried rebuilding the phone then reinstalling Tomtom. Tried updating the Quick GPS although I never had to do that before. For more than 2 years I never updated it and Tomtom worked fine. The settings are correct at "Other Cable NMEA GPS", rate of 4800 (although I tried all the different rates anyway) and Internal AGPS NMEA. I also tried updating Tomtom to 5.21. All that and no solution, still getting No Valid GPS Signal. Of course I tried in open spaces on a clear day for a while (ie no buildings, trees, clouds, etc)
Any help is appreciated. If it makes a difference, I am in Melbourne Australia but I don't think it matters
Thanks
Rafik

What I would recommend is trying another GPS program to see if it can access the GPS and work. There is a freeware program I have on my 6515 you might want to try. Here is a link to it:

PDAgold.com :: Freeware :: Noni GPSPlot

The GPS is on Comm 7 when setting up the program.

Another thing is to make sure there is no other program using the GPS. If there is another program accessing the GPS, it will cause an error saying it cannot get valid GPS. You can check it in the running programs or use a task manager. If you are unsure, do a soft reset by pressing the reset button.

Downloaded it, not getting a signal. It shows GPS Activated but not getting a fix. No other programs are using the GPS, there isn't anything installed anyway, I just rebuilt the whole thing. Would it have anything to do with the carrier or the network? I wouldn't have thought so

I don't have any Internet/Data access on my unit but the GPS works fine. I don't know what it would be. It almost sounds like the GPS has no antenna and getting no signal.
