iPAQ 6340 battery problem and hard reset.

Hello there from Italy. As mentioned, I have a iPQA 6340 since a year from now. Still I have problems with it like I didn0t learn how to handle it properly.
I did a research to find the answer myself but unsuccesfully. I have the main battery and bought the extended one. From a couple of days both batteries stop functioning at about 25% of their power. After that the iPAQ counts down to the hard reset letting me lose all the data. FYI I have set the standby slide all the way to the left allowing the longest time of use of the battery. Until now I could have the batteries going to a real 5% after plugging in to the charger. Here some questions:
1) Am I doing something wrong with the batteries and power setting?
2) is there a way to reinizialize the batteries if they need one?
3) after the hard reset, is there a way to have the PDA back as it was prior to hard reset?

For the last question, I placed all the software on the iPAQ File store or the SD card. But since the hard reset wipes out all the folders it find in the main memory I guess there is nothing to do other than letting Active sync reinstall the s/w back again.

4) for the hard reset issue, is there anyone that can tell me if the Active Sync restore thing can put my pda as it was before?

All my bests and thanks in anticipation

Michael, Italy

if you made a full backup using active sync, yes you can restore the ipaq the way it was before it hard reset.

re the battery issue: do you mean that you let your batteries drain down to 25%?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I let the battery drain lower than 25%. I don't see anything strange with it. The only thing is that I had to re-initialize the power memory, to say so. I have found that the feature that allow the pda to have some power time without the battery is not really phisical but rather a software issue. So, what happens sometimes is that this software feature gets screwed up and at a certain percentage the pda shuts off completely erasing what's in it. I found a procedure to sort of restore the power-without-the-battery feature. Now I'm back on track: I can go as low as 5-7 % without having to recharge. You might wonder why I want to go this low. Well, it is not a "want" issue but rather a thing that happens, sometimes, while I'm traveling. Overall, I want to be able not to depend frantically on a wall socket when I read my pda saying 25% of power remaining.
Usually, with my setup, I can go on another day when the power is 25%. Additionally, I have the extended battery (the thick one) that when the power is at 25% I can go on for another abundant 2 days..........

My bests

Michael
