iPAQ h6365 battery problem..
Hey,
I bought a HP iPAQ h6365 second hand off a friend a few months back, it was 18 months old when i bought it so that would make it about 22 months old at this point. I haven't had any problems with the PDA.. until now. As i came home a week or two ago, i heard the low battery alarm come from the unit, (which i thought was strange considering i charged it before i left that morning) and when i actually took the unit out to look at it, it was completely switched off (not on stand-by, off.)
After that, i took the battery out and put it in the cradle, let it fully charge, and tried it again, but.. no luck. It seemed to switch itself off at a certain point in loading (it did this every time i attempted to switch it on). So i removed the battery, left it in cradle until it said it was fully charged again, put it back in the phone, and before it had a chance to switch off - i hit the soft reset button, and unit started up with no problems, except for the several error messages i received once getting into Windows. One stated that the backup battery was very low, the other saying "the removable battery has been completely discharged. It is suggested that you fully recharge your battery". Since the unit was able to start up, i put it in the cradle and let it charge the backup battery.
Now, heres the problem i'm having - i cant get the unit to go into stand-by, at all. I pressed the stand-by button and the unit just switched off, pressing the button again does nothing. It would seem as though the backup battery isn't holding its charge anymore, but i'd like to get a second opinion before i try to open the PDA in an attempt to replace the backup battery. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
