Audio Problem, hardware or software? Need Help

Hi Guys.
I recently purchased a refurbished Ipaq 6315, the audio is not working on it. There are no system sounds, clicks, taps, let alone any audio file being played. I did a soft reset and it played the system some systems sounds for a first couple of seconds and then went mute. I did the soft reset again and again the same thing happened. This has happened quite a few times.
First i thought it was a hardware (pda speaker) fault, but then I used the genuine headset (handsfree) to test it, but the audio was not being played on them as well. I have had no upgrades of the software of ROM whatsoever, Do you guys think is this a software issue? Pleade suggest a solution for it.

Try a ROM upgrade which also means a Hard Reset. After that give us a report.

I just did upgrade to 1.10.08 from HP site: http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/22572.html
But still the same problem exists. When the PDA is booting up and first few seconds after bootup the PDA responds with sounds to touching screen. But then goes mute. Do you recommend any other version of ROM other than 1.10.8 I would really appreciate any help.

I don't think this is a software issue... probably a bad H6315
