It does only flash the extended ROM BUT it will hard reset. Use the app to make modifications to the image then copy the image into the folder with the TMOBILERST.zip contents. Then flash.

It seems that some apps can't be placed in the extrom.
I've made a cab that adds some registry settings so that my headset is already paired after hard-reset, sms delivery notification enabled, and some other reg. changes, placed it in the config folder, but after every soft-reset the extrom setup process restarts lol.
From what I've seen from the T-Mo extrom, I may be doing something wrong lol.
Originally posted by beaups Putting it in the wrong folder I think. Don't put in the root of the extrom, put in the config or other subfolder. Should solve.
I'm putting them in the config folder,
cabinstl
double launcher
today theme
ip dashboard
resco explorer
vnc client
vxutil
generic(carrier configs included by default)
registry tweaks
without the tweaks it all works fine, but it's just a simple cab with reg values =|
I havnt had a chance to try this yet but it sounds excellent. (thanks dmc) I'm all excited to use the new 6515 so my 6315 is kind of in a generic appliance mode for the next month. (no more tweaking anything for me) If this works with the newer 6515 in June, I'll do it for sure.
i got my self joined to PDAPhoneHome about secs ago.. i must admit that i'm really impressed by your works (unofficial flash roms, ext rom editor and all)
umm, guys, my winxp sp2 seems unable to recognise the disk created by ipaqdisk.exe thing, so i cant create any extended rom..
im very sure that ive installed it correctly, and i'm very sure that i chose unused drive(s).. it only shows some kind of a disk icon with x sign at its lower-right.. when i tried to refresh it, the disk dissapears..
is there any incompatibility between ipaqdisk with sp2? HELP ME!
im dying to make my own extROM T_T
mmm.. now i know how this extended rom on *.nbf works..
the tool dmc874 created was a tool to combine the header (header.img) and an image (disk image/ipaqrom.img) which makes an output named an ipaqrom.nbf..
i couldn't connect the filedisk's virtual disk(s) to my computer..
so i tried many ways how i could modify the ipaqrom.img.. but surprisingly, when i open the ipaqrom.img with UltraIso, BAM..
the directories were meant to be flashed to \ipaq rom\ is there..
Now i can modify them through UltraIso.. BUT, i cant delete 2 files in directory \progra~1\, those files are *.cpl files.. maybe i shouldnt delete them anyway..
now i'm done modifying the ipaqrom.img and ready to combine it with the header.img with the help of dmc874's rom editor! but soon i realized that my ipaq is 6365 and not 6315.. is the header of nbf files are the same for all 63xx series? so i got nervous and cancelled the thought to flash them into my 6365.. you see, my dad will hung me if i brick that gadget.. im only 21 years old.. T_T <- crying..
now, all i want to know from the pros is..
1. is it ok to use the 6315's nbf header and flash it into my 6365?
2. could you guys figure something out, so we can flash the extended rom without hard resetting the device?
3. how can i delete the 2 cpl files i mentioned above? coz it seems unusable in my device..
Thats all..
oh, dmc874, i have no mean to dis you and your work.. i only want to share 'alternate ways' to modify the ipaqrom.. coz i found it hard to connect to the filedisk virtual disks to my computer..
thank you for making the rom editor! it is a very nice work, too bad i cant use it to simplify my rom editing..

Yes, you can use winimage on the img file also, but seeing as how that is a program you have to pay for if you use it for any amount of time, I did it this way. As long as you reboot your machine after you run the install.bat it should work. Make sure you say yes to allow registry changes. I tested it on a XP SP2 machine. Yes you can install it on a 6365 with no problem. They are the same phone. As far as editing the extended ROM without flashing, that is what I was originally trying to do but gave up on it when beaups found how to do the flash, mainly because of lack of time.

mm.. i've figured it out yesterday and i encourage myself to flash it into my device.. and it worked!
since i store my apps in storage card, i dont need to reinstall them from scratch.. all i have to do is to run restore registry settings and my PIMs.. muwahahahaha..
btw.. dmc874.. i've disabled some unused services on my computer, so it'll run faster.. that might cause the filedisk unable to connect its virtual disk into my machine.. my bad
but thanks..
all i need to figure out is how to make custom bootscreen looks right in my 6365. the white section is always shown green.. has anyone solve this?
Can this be used to get rid of the tmobile stuff? I'm on the official patch from HP and I'm not on tmobile anymore. I'd like to get rid of all that crap I don't use.
Does anyone have a base rom that might be the standard stuff minus all the tmobile crap so I can add my programs in?
Use yhe ipaqrom in the rom update for the 6365. You can get it from HP. Or see the thread on loading the 6365 rom. Just edit the ini file so it loads only the IPAQROM. That will remove all the t-mobile stuff, in essence you will have a 6365
*note*
1. you'll need to put your unit in bootloader mode.
2. you'll loose all data.
3. this will only reflash your extended rom.
4. this is the original extended rom for the h6315

by the way I never used bootloader mode and still worked... What am I missing?

Hmmm. Interesting. Have you flashed you unit at all with any of the ROM images? It does have the header from the extended ROM image from HP but I didn't think it would work without being in BL mode.
