Callers on other end hear distorted voice with HS801

Please help: I have the Motorola HS801 (same as US 810 I think) headset and the .38 ROM for my 6365. If I answer the phone or place a call, the caller on the other end hears my very distorted voice (almost unrecognizable and definitely not understandable). However, if I disconnect then reconnect the headset, all is well. I think this is unique to these early headsets, but I want to make sure before I buy one (this one was a gift). BTW, it doesn't matter which button I push to answer or make the call, it's still distorted.

can you buy another headset to test it out and then return it if it does the same thing? normally when it comes to these situations i purchase products from stores like BestBuy, Circuit City, etc.. they don't charge you restocking fees or not let you return hardware items such as headsets etc...

I agree, it's probably a headset issue. I use the HS810 myself and am aware of many others who have good luck with it, especially following the ROM upgrade.

Not in China. You buy it, it's yours. I tend to think so as well, so I'll see if I can find a friend and check it out. The 801 looks exactly like the 810. I wonder if this is the Chinese model of the 810? That's why I'm not sure buying another will help.

OK, that was my next choice of headset. I don't have access to the Logitech headset here and I've seen one Plantronics 3500. Does anyone in here have a clue as to what causes it? If it is an older standard BT device combined with newer drivers, I will have to get a newer generation. This is frustrating because the only way this brick is worth a tinkers dam as a phone is if it has a BT headset,
