tia!
You probably need to call T-Mo and find out. If you don't have a data plan, I strongly encourage you to get one if you will be using the device for wireless surfing or e-mail.
internet2 does not work for me so I use internet 3 not sure if thats cause I have their vpn plan at the same price as their data plan with no port restrictions.
[qoute]Q: I'm having trouble with GPRS. I have it set to internet2.voicestream.com and everything else seems to be set right, but it's not working correctly.
A: internet2 is the incorrect server. iPAQs should always connect to wap.voicestream.com. Try changing it, and if it still doesn't work, contact T-Mobile support for more help.[/quote]

That is exactly why. Internet3 is for VPN customers only.

Hi All...
I'm new to the Ipaq 6315, but could not find what I need through searching. Is there a way to get timed profiles? I want to use the silent profile while at work, and have it revert back to normal profile at a certain time.
Are you asking whether one will be able to "revert" back to the pre-upgrade ROM? The answer is, probably not, unless T-Mobile releases a "downgrade" ROM patch. But using the official upgrade, once released, will still leave you with the option to cash in on your warranty so, hakuna matata.
Actually I was wondering whether the corrections to GPRS that TMobile made in the XIP patch released last year would remain or be lost with the newrom?
The new ROM contains new code for the radio (GSM/GPRS). So...yes your XIP update and everything else is gone but you are replacing it w/even newer code. New ROM works better than the old ROM w/XIP update. Do NOT install the XIP update over top of the new ROM.
Beaups, my upgrade to the newrom was successful and all except MS voice command are working properly.
The XIP file Tmobile sent out last year to deal with GPRS was included in my back up file I ran before installing the new rom. I removed it after the restore. The unit is working well.

Here is the inforimation from the T-Mobile support (web based) that I receieved last week (04/07/05)...
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. Currently we can understand the frustration however there is not an ability to guarantee that your new devise will include the new ROM upgrade. If you should receive the device with the older software, then you would need to use the new upgrade.

my 6365 pops message like every 1-2 mins. it said "failed". it came from the signal strength bar.. and i know that i'm not sending messages/calling or anything!
I have seen this message before. I found that it could be one of three reasons. (there might be other reasons that I am unaware of)
1) The message is from a previous call that did not complete. Say you tried to make a call, it did not go through so you pressed TALK right away again and it went through the second time. The 'failed' message can sit in the queue and come out after your call was completed.
2) You have Email Triggers enabled. The incoming SMS message to tell the phone to check email causes the phone to connect to the Internet. If you are not connected via WiFi, this causes a GPRS connection to be established. If connecting to GPRS fails, you will get the 'Failed" popup message.
3) You have Pocket Outlook configured to check for new messages on a schedule (every hour or something like that). Pocket Outlook tries to make a connection over GPRS and it fails. You will get the "Failed" popup message.
Do any of these scenarios make sense for your situation?
i've figure it out! you were right about the connecting to gprs fails.. but it wasn't triggered by #1,2 or 3... seems like my activesync settings were changed, i guess my friend messed with it when i'm not aware..
the "use mobile schedule to sync with this pc" checklist was checked which is not checked before..
thank you for your reply! now i can avoid those messages in other causes..
I have had the IPAQ since last October. I have spent a considerable amount of time with T-Mobile Tech support. My IPAQ rarely sends out emails. It will typically give my a "Time Out" message, and then out of nowhere, sometimes days later, it will send out the email. No one seems to be able to help me. I am now on my third IPAQ, after having exchanged two previous ones that crashed on me. Does everyone have this problem or is it just me, and if so, is there a simple solution???? Help!

I had the same experience with this device both times I did the trail period; original and updated rom versions. I ultimately returned both phones for the reason above and several others.
I am WAY past the trial period. And, T-Mobile will not exchange the phone for another brand. Is this problem common to everyone who has the HP 6313??? I will be leaving for Asia in a few weeks and I must have email access. Can anyone help me???
