Software Issues - Use Caution When Installing These!

I thought I'd start a little thread of software that does not work properly on the 6135. If anyone has any know issues with software that may make our 6135's act badly, please post them here.

Thanks.

Issue: JS Landscape will not allow device to reboot after installing and trying to use landscape mode.

NOTE FROM OUR SPONSORS>>>>>
If you are going to buy software for your h6315, please use THIS LINK TO POCKETGEAR if you can... it will help us out. Thanks.

Gotta admit, it's a far cry from the old 2002 on the i700. So far the only things I'm watching are Journal Bar and SPB Pocket Plus... I think they may cause the occasional lockup, but only a guess.

Unfortunately I think Pocket Plus is acting up on me as well. I hope SPB gets a patch or fix soon. The phone will not recognize a call when the lockup occurs. So for the time being I have removed Pocket Plus. Umm edit here... Not just Pocket Plus but possibly also PItoday Plug in. Nothing like living on the bleeding edge. Edit again...

Pocket Plus is OK
PI Today is OK

Not sure about

SPB GPRS Monitor
Pocket Concepts Meeting Mute
Calligrapher

I just installed Spb PocketPlus 2 on my baby and it slowed it down noticeably. Good bye PocketPlus.

I previously posted a problem with the 6315 not waking up after I pressed the power button to lock the device. After two days of testing the culprit was Calligrapher 7.3. I removed this program Friday morning and the device has run perfectly since.

Worldmate Pros' today screen module slows the todays screen so much, that the iPaq gets confused when receiving a call while in suspend mode, and upon "waking up" to process the incoming call, the unit can lock up. You can keep Worldmate, just disable its display in the today screen.

How to minimize standby lockups!

Hey guys, just post whatever tips you've found.

From what I've gathered:

Caligrapher 7.3 . . often causes it to die when coming back from standby.

Also, make sure you don't have any program that's trying to go out on the network while in standby. I tested this several times having it check my email automatically. If I have it checking every 15-20 minutes, it hangs *constantly*. You even need to be wary if it takes a long time for your mail to get checked. If you start checking it, and it goes into standby before it's done? It hangs.

As long as your GPRS connection is idle, it seems ok.

So, I removed any apps that go out on GPRS by themselves as well as Calligrapher and everything is super stable now.

Between Journal Bar, Calligrapher, and email, when I first got my phone I had to reset several times a day. Totally fine now.

Hope this was helpful to some people.

Send a message via Yahoo to tntgeb

It has to be teh CPU right? These programs were written for the Intel processor and this is a TI. Is that the problem?
