it works now. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me with this. Can I delete this folder once in a while or is there a way to clean it up automaticly.

Hey Dan...or anyone else.

What is the messaging folder and files there for? There are a lot files in that folder and I was wondering if anyone has tried to delete them or at least move them to the sD Card.

Well, I've been running with a lot less than 10 megs in programs. I installed most to storage card. Tried the Avantgo fix, and then Avantgo wouldn't work right.
So, I uninstalled Avantgo and did reclaim some memory. Figured with vision, PIE and journal bar I can get all the news I need anyway. Sure wish I could reclaim more. If nothing is on I can move the slider and get over 10 in programs, but the minute I run something, kiss it goodbye. And that little slider likes to reset itself the minute you close it.
Prior to removing Avantgo, occasionally would get that little warning voice!
Steve

yeah, same here!

I think it resets the memory at 3.5 or 3.7 so I keep mine at 3.75 for storage and start off with 17 for programs but once the phone starts up and I use the applications, I'm usually down to 14 or 15. Still pretty good and it allows me to run multiple applications without any problems.

Redirecting your Pictures to your SD Card

Create a folder on your SD Card: \Storage Card\Photos

Open your registry:

Goto: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hitachi\Onlinepicture

For the "initdir" change it to "\Storage Card\Photos\"
Also for "vmemo" change it to "\Storage Card\Photos\"

Then: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hitachi\PictureViewer\Status

For the "Path", Change it to "\Storage Card\Photos\"

Exit the Registry Editor and do a soft reset.

=======================================

I made the first two changes above just fine, but I don't have any folder under Hitachi called "PictureViewer"....?
Is the path that you listed correct?
Thanks.

Store AvantGo on Storage Card

Taken from: http://www.phm.lu/PocketPC/RegTweaks/Tweak.asp?ref=6

This registry modification will move AvantGo channels to the storage card.

First, close Pocket Internet Explorer and move your "avantgo\" folder and its subfolders from the "\Windows\" folder to the "\Storage Card\" folder.
Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AvantGo\
Change the "DatabaseLocation" value from "\Windows\avantgo" to "\Storage Card\avantgo".
Go to mobile link on your desktop and select settings, then properties for the server, and check refresh all content on next sync.

Hope this helps,
Dan [/b]
I have discovered that adding an additional backslash after avantgo (i.e. \Storage Card\avantgo\" does NOT work. It is necessary to do it just how Dan has listed it above. Otherwise, it looks and looks for the Avantgo folder and never finds it. I note that the web site that Dan refers to has it wrong--only Dan's way works.

MsgQueueDataFileIOTA?

So... I've been poking around in the gadget again. I found a big, fatty stack of these in my Windows directory...

MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Broadcast Message SMS Protocol (Receive Only)

MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Notification SMS Protocol (Receive Only)

MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Raw SMS Protocol (Receive Only)

MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Status Message SMS Protocol (Receive Only)

MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Text SMS Protocol

I've got two of each. No extension. Dated *yesterday.* Here's the kicker - the first of each series is 2.71MB (each) and the second of each is 260kB (each). when I copied them off to the gadget onto the computer, it put them at 17.5MB. Oddly enough, my SMS has been ignoring me and forbidding me from emailing pictures for at least a couple of weeks. I haven't touched SMS at all in a week or more.

Now, I was able to delete one of them. The others are not read-only, but they don't go away.

A) what are they? When you check them out in Textpad, you see a light yellow bar. When you check them out in notepad or wordpad, you see nothing at all.

B) they can't really add up to that much, can they? Supposedly right now everything I've got running and installed in main memory adds up to 14 MB.

C) is there any way to move them or kill them? Every little bit helps...

Thanks!
