What could cause my Hitachi G1000 to loose it's phone settings?

Hey Folks!

I joined the smartphone arena 2 weeks ago with the G1000. So far so good...

I was using a Sanyo PM-8200 for over a year.

Anyway, I woke up this morning and disconnected the USB sync/charge cable and found "NO SERVICE". I looked at my phone settings and my phone number and MSI settings were gone.

Last week this happened but it was sort of my fault; I installed wifi drivers and I guess it knocked out the settings.

So, I did a hard reset and activation wizard and then sync; ok now.

I DID NOT reinstall the wifi drivers this previous time, so nothing should have caused this...

Ideas?

Thanks, Jay

did you restore your phone from a previous backup thru activesync (AS)? if so, you could have reinstalled the drivers.

did you get this phone from ebay? if so you are probably the 3 or 4th person to have it.

if you had no issues before then i would do a hard reset by using the rsset switch inside the battery door. keep that on for about 11 minutes then shut it off. reinsert the battery and attach the battery door and go from there.

did you use the full reset switch thats located in the battery door the first time you did the reset?

Marctronixx :

THANK YOU for your response!

Yes, I realize this is an outdated device but this is part of the challange for me...

I can say that I haven't had an issue for the last 2 nights on this.

What I did differently was:

1 not charge on the PC that I used before overnight.

2 I did not charge the G1000 overnight at all, but charged up in the evening and then leave it overnight unconnected.

3 I DID NOT turn the phone setting off via the software, but left it connected all night while of course the device was off.

Other than that, I really don't know except I think I found I had a Sync setting that was set to sync every 5 minutes or so.

So, if you arer open to a dialogue on this, my first question to you would be; is there an issue of selecting "Turn Phone Off" overnight that may not be public knowledge?

Thanks, Jay

turn phone off just turns off the radio. the pda side still works.

i think you synced up some old data that caused this error. if you have done a complete hard reset using the switch in the battery compartment, i would MANUALLY reinstall apps one at a time and test the device to see if an app is causing your issue. simply resyncing will not do any good and may install the problem back on there. these phones were tempermental and had some little bugs in them.
