Ok guys, someone is ripping off my program and selling it on ebay as their own, and people are actually buying it! I can't have that happen, I have to make some radical changes to the backend. I also had to colocate the box recently to keep the application running, so I'm considering charging a small amount for the application. I just wanted to post here in case anyone is wondering. The client should't change so nobody will need to install anything new, however you will need to register your phone number with me to enable sending of sms messages. I will post here again with further info and the url of the registration page. I hope you guys understand, I provided this service free for the last 2-1/2 years but I can't let someone rip me and everyone else off!

Hey, dude, that's really bad. I've enjoyed your program for two years now. It's a sweet piece of software, and I couldn't believe you were giving it away! Just let me know how much, and where to register, and I'll do it! The program is definitely worth it!
Everyone using it will be notified, probably through the application or SMS. I'll keep you posted on this thread too. Glad you like the application.
Tom
Keep us posted because it is my sole source for SMS and works great. Will we be notified during a PID update? Thanks Tom and great app thats actually needed...
I don't believe any client changes will be made, everything will be handled on the backend, and don't worry you'll all be notified both on this board and probably through the application as well.
Tom
let me start by saying that i am incredibly thankfull for sms monitor! it is really the only way to send SMS from the g.
having to pay for the service would suck since we already have to pay sprint to receive but i can see where you're coming from. maybe you could make the backend available (for a price of course) and force dude to hook his own servers up?
if there is anything we as users can do, let us know. i am sure we can track said thief down and "convince" him to stop. I would also get ebay and paypal involved...they dont like this stuff anymore than you do
I have to at least protect my intellectual property. I've alerted ebay but they are less than responsive by far and large. Luckily with the infrastructure being the way it is, I have the ability to cut him off at the knees on the server side. I hate paying extra for things just like the next guy, but honestly I've provided the service free for years now and a few dollars here and there won't kill people I don't think.

There's another thread called SMS 2.0 or something along those lines, there should be a version 2.1 somewhere in there, it's been a while to be honest.

I just wanted to post an update and say I did indeed find the sms program and it worked beautifully using the teleflip server (awesome integration). The only thing that ached me a bit was that if I were to receive a text it wouldn't show up as the person's name, but rather some odd 4 digit number while only the number@cellservicemaildoman and the message appeared in the body of the text. Essentially, I would have to memorize everyone's number on my contact list in order to know who is sending me the text message (the same went for the text messages I sent unless I wrote something like "this is Jane" in the body of the text. Anywho, I'm DEFINITELY not complaining especially since I ended up exchanging the phone after ONE day of ownership because there was just too many negatives overpowering the positives for me to justify keeping the phone. Luckily I got a phone with some mechanical issues (unknown to me before activation- dumb on my part) to warrant a HUGE trade up to the 6700 since I have TEP. To those out there still holding on to your G1000, good luck and God speed. It would have made an awesome phone if Sprint/Hitachi gave two *&^% about it before and after releasing it.
Hi there. I would like to buy the software and register my number with you. My friend gave me this phone recently and I would like to text on it. Please let me buy your software. Thanks.
ok. well can I register my phone number with you and be able to send SMS? If not, do you know any other programs aor software that I can get to be able to send SMS messeges? Thanks.
I'm not aware of any SMS applications for the G1000. Quite honestly it's pretty much an antique in this day and age, it was a great unit in it's day but nobody has been developing for it for years.
