##3282 problem

i have a quick question.
i got all the info from a tech support from sprint to reprogram my G1000 phone.

And when i do the ##3282 an go into the menu to update my user name and pass word it will not let me update the phone to use the PCSVision service.

Now I've talk to tech support several times an they told me to do hard and soft reboot, remove battery and everything else they can through at me but the ##3282 menu still will not let me update my user name and password for the vision.

the last tech support person i talked to told me i can take phone to nearest sprint store but the problem with that is the nearest tech support store is 3-4 hours away.
The only sprint store around me is an Sprint Express store an i know they don't know anything about PDA phones cause all they got are flip/clamshell phones painted in every color u want. and not one PDA Phone around.

Now when i get to the Engineering Menu the only thing i can cghange is the "PDP No. the rest is grayed out like u can rename .
Plus the only buttons on the bottum of that screen are Update, IOTA, and Cancel. and the Cancel and IOTA buttons are the only buttons i can push can't push the Update button to update user and pass.
Now there is a Brouser, SIP and Advanced folder but none of them have the user name and password to update just the main menu.

is there anything i can do to unlock or open the menu to update my G1000 with out driving close to 40 hours?
Please PM me or email me with any help.

you are going to have to drive the 3 or 4 hours to get it fixed.

first some question i ask everyone:

how long have you had the phone?

original owner?

get it from fleabay?

why are you trying to reprogram the phone?

hard reset should not affect this info as it stays the same when you do a hard reset.

i just did the ## sequence and was able to get in and i also had the ability to change parameters.

it sounds like a phone issue and its probably nothing that can be done over the air.. you need to go to a store...

Not Original owner was a fleabay item.
i need to reprogram the phone with my username and password so i can use the PCSVision/internet when i am on the road.
i can use the internet when i am at home but y should i use my PDA when i got a P4 2.4 system to use.
I need to be able to recive video/pictures of my survalance cameras when i am not at home, The Neibhors have this problem of sneaking over to my place when i am not home and like to borrow and steal items. and my Active web cam is able to transmit over the interent and show me pictures of anyone walking on property, plus need it as a hard copy to give to police when neibhors say they were not on property takeing items.

and yes i was a Sprint Customer.
Had the Toshiba CDM9950 Phone and removed it for the G1000 Phone since i need a Phone that was capable to view Video/Pictures through a Stanard IE interface.
so i switched to a PDA Phone that i liked.

ok...

it seems your only recourse is to get it to a sprint corp store. worse case, go tot he express center, call sprint on the back phone, go thru the motions of trying to access the ## codes... once you get stuck, a store rep will note it and that should give you some weight with getting a replacement...

not really much else you can do bro..

hmm... i dont think there is such a beast out there. i have never heard of a firmware upgrade...

regardless even if there is one, you do not need it in order to simply enter simple user info into the phone. my phone is one of the first production units to rool off the assembly line, so if anything, i have the "old firmware" and i can access the menu just fine.

your problems are much b igger that a firmware upgrade..

again, i dont even believe there is one.. if there were, sprint would have it.

why didnt tech support tell you how to get it, or better yet, email it to you?? i think they told you that to get you off the phone....

yea i am beginning to see that,
did a search on all mt major search engines and the only firmware i can find is the wifi/bluetooth and G1000SDIO plus ZyAIR_G-1000_V3.50(HH.5)C0_Standard.
so yea i think tech support just wanted me off the phone.
but i did do a search on a nother forum and i did see several topics about firmware upgrade for provisining thing.
these people were have the same problem i am haveing but there problem was happening a year or more ago.
so if there is a firmware upgrade for the provisoning then it is out there somewhere for the G1000.
all the links for that firmware are outdated and not working

apologies for beating a dead horse here.

but a firmware update is not your problem. what you are accessing in the phone is a simple low level page.. this should be available with aany version number... now if you wanted EV-DO or something on the phone then i can possibly understamd an update.. but to input siple username and phone info can be accomplished with any update.

good luck on finding this "firmware update"... if you do find something like this then post it here for others...

Well i final got what i was looking for.
this last tech support person said that i need to dowhat is called
"over the wire provisioning" need to change the profile from 0 to 1.
Now is there ne1 out there that knows how to do that with out me doing a 4 hour drive.?
She said that is the only way to get rid of that 1012 error after it goes to PROVISIONING.
so if there is ne1 out there that knows how to do the over the wire provisioning please let me know.
Again thanks

actually OTA.. Over The Air provisisoning. yo udo not download that. thats a process that occurs when your phone updates. it does so, OVER THE AIR...

i think they are giving you mis-information.

if its a hassle to you to drive there, just ship it. what you need done can only be done at/with sprint.

also, to do any OTA provisioning, you need a very full signal strength. if you have less than two bars, the provisioing wil not work.

yeah you have bigger issues other than any firmware update. best bet is to try and get sprint to replace it (not likely) or re-sell it on fleabay.

good luck

well the person who did sell it to me said i can replace it with another G1000.
But i told him only if one of the other G1000 can update.
Told him need it to work on PCS Vision. so waiting on him to get back to me and let me know if he has one of the others that can provision or have the update button unlocked.
if not then i will wait till i have enough to get one of those PPC 6601? i think the other Pocket PCs with keyboards. not a OS PDA i am not fond of the OSes.
so untill then thanks for all your help maybe you can help someone else in need, but Thanks a bunch.
