Question water in screen

this morning i reached into the towel hamper after a shower and happened to drip on the screen of my g1000 (upper left). the water made it inside the screen and now does not work. the display was up and everything seemed to work except for the touch screen. then i tried to become a repair man and did a hard restart? ( little black lever by battery). now my phone wants to be re adjusted i got passed the first screen by using the keyboard, but now i am stuck at the screen alignment screen. what do i do? i purchased the phone refurbished off ebay (electronics 4u)with a warranty(squaretrade?) but i doubt they cover this type of problem. Help!!!!

You can't get insurance on a used or refurb phone.

Mobile Protech may be your only hope

Just let it dry out and it will work again. Hitachi just hates damp air.

XDA II - water in screen

Hi.. my XDA II just had the same problem.. The water is inside the screen right now and it's taking up like 95% of the screen. I've tried to dry it out by using the hair dryer but the water hasn't gone away!!

I can't take out the battery from the phone and dry it out as since this is a PDA phone.. all the data will be lost!

Everything else on the phone is working (via buttons).. but I can't get the touch screen to work.. what else do i do? I'm drying it under a lamp as we speak..

I'm very depressed... Any ideas to help? Thanks.

okay first of all kids

take a picture and show me how much got under the screen. a drop or two? or more?

if it was JUST water...

leave it in a really hot place for a few days (got an appliance that runs hot or makes a lot of heat? try on top of the back of your computer monitor if it stays on all the time).

I've had 2 Gs die on me because of this. the first G got soaked by rainwater, I left it on top of one of my hot-running VCRs for 2 days and it dried out. the only thing is, it would never go past the "align screen" even if you stayed there all day. you'd have to tap all over the screen or turn it off to get past it, but then the screen isn't aligned right and you have to relearn how to use it with the screwed up alignment.

trust me if it's gotten wet it won't align right again. who knows it may work but for me it didn't... it'll never be the same. how do I know? well I still had the first rainwater G (with its stepped-on screen) around and it had an okay-condition touchscren which I wanted to swap with my phone, that has a really bad scraped up one (abusive previous owner). I swapped the "touchscreen" part of the screen.. and it didn't align. 15 minutes of "align wizard" and it never did. so it's in the trash, and I had to put my scraped up one back on.

my second G (brand new and 2 weeks old I might add) got less than half an eyedropper full of tea under the screen. THAT didn't dry out, so i gave up.

if any water got into the keyboard then you're looking at a couple of dead keys most likely.
