hey guys, great site. Just got a g1000 for cheap and am having fun trying to work around all the disappointments.... I have a few questions that might have been answered before, but bear with me:

1) is there an update for the dialer? most times when I hold down the speedial button of my choice, it doesn't dial.

2) when I setup my pop3 accounts, the outgoing server is worng because it wilkl not send the emails. Does anyone know what Sprint's outgoing server address is? I can recieve fine but not send.

3) I know the age of this phone is dead, and everyone has stopped trying to develop new stuff for it, but is there anyone who is still hacking around in this phone? I think I will buy the new 6700 hen it comes out, but I still would love to screw around with this phone. I currently have a cd coming from dell that has pocket pc 2003 on it, and I was wondering what would happen if i tried to install that on the g, what would happen. I know the phone portion wouldn't work etc, but would it function? I would think not, but maybe someone has tried this?

4) my last question is about lock/line. If i called them up and said that my keylock button fell off etc... And said I needed a replacement phone that would work with all the software i have that runs on pocket pc 2002/2003, what are the odds I would recieve a refurb 6601? How much complaining do you have to do to get one?

1.) There is an update for the Fonix voice dialer.
2.) You can find information on your PCS mail account on sprint's homepage if you know your user account and password. It should already be configured when you activiate your phone. As for any other e-mail source, you would have to put in the information yourself. For example...outgoing.verizon.net/incoming.verizon.net if you have verizon dsl e-mail...
3.) The only good work-around program I know is Tom's SMS Monitor. You can find that on this message board if you haven't already gotten it. He just recently got it working again - but it is still being worked on. It allows us to send text messages...
4.) I'm not going to condone scamming anybody for a new phone, but try it if you want to. Also, I don't think installing the 2003 Pocket Windows would work. It would have had to been issued by Sprint to work with the "phone" components.

actually my keylock button really did fall off but other than that, works fine.
