Hello, I'm unable to copy from my desktop to the SD card through activesync. Does anyone have any ideas? (It was working fine until tried to use a new SD card, now none of them work)

Does your phone allow you to see the SD card? On mine for some reason it would lose the SD card, i would have to remove it and do a reset then reinsert it and then it worked fine.
First, thanks for the replies! You are exactly the two guys I'd hoped would answer... But it seemed likely that you'd moved on to new machines like the 6600.
The problem is copying TO the G1000 from the desktop computer. When Activesync is running, I can still open a window to the SD card on the G1000 with the "storage card" favorite that I've had on Windows 2000 for a year and a half. But it won't allow files of any size to be copied to the card from the desktop computer... It just shows the 'do not enter' circle with the line through it. Meanwhile Activesync seems to be handling everything else just fine. When I tried a hard reset on the G1000 (sniff) it copied my 300 contacts right over from the desktop computer.
When I use the favorite, or browse to it through explore on the activesync window, it shows a file manager window for the SD card just like always... I just can't copy to it.
(For what it's worth, the Storage Card icon in the Activesync window doesn't have the little stack of papers on it, the stack of papers are on the 'databases' Icon instead. I'd thought it was on the storage card, but my [human] memory might be failing too)
Any thoughts appreciated

Just to be clear... Have you tried the direct path Activesynch-> Explore-> MyPocketPC-> Storage Card and then draging the item there? Have you tried writing to the card from anther device? A while back my SD card became currupted and said i had 300MB remaining but when I would try to put a mp3 file (6MB) it would tell me it was too large. I had to format it to make it work again.
anythings possible, but id liek to see if you can get it to read in a card reader..
you can fiddle with the switch... put it in protect mode and then try to move files to/from it... see if that makes a difference .. i.e. if it gives you a different error or if you can tell that the switch works in protect mode...
my post makes snese in my head but im not sure if i got it out here right...
lol forgot about the switch (little movable thing on the oppisist side of the slanted slanted edge). Ya try that frist Make sure its not "Locked" (usualy the little tab would be moved away from the contacts if it is locked and should be twords the contacts if it is unlocked) and if it is then move to switch so its not "locked". If its not locked move it anyway and try the other position and then try moving it back if it still doesnt work.
No pocket mechanic. Lockout switch in correct position (and it's always good to check). The card could actually copy files etc across itself.
So I did a cold start and reloaded everything (including activesync). Now it works when copying files from the desktop with ctrl-c/ctl-v, but it still doesn't work with drag-and-drop. That's good enough I guess, but it's one of those questions Bill Gates is gonna have to answer at the gates of Heaven. (He's going to have a LOT of explaining to do.)
Thanks for your help!

If I come across a PC with one in the next few days I'll kick you an email, but both the cards I tried in the g1000 seem to allow operations through these other methods. It's drag-and-drop that seems to be locked out. It's enough to make me wonder if it doesn't work on other people's machines either, and I'm just remembering a fantasy.
But it DOES work , right? You can open a window to your PDA SD card on your desktop through Activesync and use it like a local desktop folder, correct?
Mysterious.
PS, it's very quiet in here, and as soon as this handset breaks it'll be replaced by a 6600, but I still love the G!

I used drag and drop all the time with my G so i know it is supposed to work. Sorry we couldnt fully fix your problem but *shrugs* btw you can get a media reader for like $40 plus it allows you to format your SD card (usefull if it becomes currpted instead of having to call all your friends untill you find one like i had to lol). Im buying one on saturday, or a new hard drive, or another 1GB sd card or....(fades out as he keeps talking about stuff he wants to buy)
