Anyone have problems or know any issues dealing with Beaming Contact Info. Last night i was tring to send and receive a beam from a contacts phone...it was a two-wayphone...and the notification on the G1k, recognized his unit, but took forever to receive the info. and i eventually gave up and typed it in...and vice versa when i tried to send...i found his unit...but didn't send anything...am i not waiting long enough?

I had limited one way success with a Nokia phone- cannot recall the model that my friend owns, but it would allow me to receive files from the nokia, but not send. I was able to send receive no problem with a laptop with IRdA.

i have beamed a few things twice between a conventional pda and a smartphone and didnt notice any lag. make sure you are close to the pda and not far away... inches at best... not feet! :o depending on the type of data also could have been a issue... try another phone if you can gain access to one...

In my pre-converged life I had an app called PeaceMaker on my iPAQ that allowed IR transfers between PPC and Palm OSs. I did not load it on the G. No idea if it works for phones.
