Well, after trying a dozen different settings, it appears that there is only one combination that works. I tried to change the ringer - nothing; changed mode to anything other than "private", nothing.
It is very strange that seemingly small changes in the settings will keep it from ringing. I've uninstalled programs, even given a hard reset, and it still will only ring with these specific settings.
anyone else have similar problems?

My G did the same thing, I had to replace it. Of course sprint said I did something to it.....but thats not the case. I guess they think we are not supposed to install software.
My phone would not ring or receive alarms until I turned to power button on the back on. Time stamp on the missed call from last night would say now for example. At least there is a real problem with these phones....

My G continues to have the no-ring problem, in the same way described as by everybody else in this thread. I've tried everything in this thread and nothing has worked.
I have a theory. I have noticed that my G often downloads emails by itself, and I think that I'm missing calls while it's doing that. I have several pop accounts set up, but I set them all to NOT automatically check for new email. However, it still does it. I know because new emails appear in my inbox accounts without me setting it to download, and also inbox always says "disconnecting" when I open it.
So, is there a way that I can turn this off so that it REALLY doesn't log in to download new emails unless I specifically tell it to? I suspect this is what's causing me to miss calls.
Thanks.

If I set the "mode" switch to the middle position and then change the environment setting to "outdoor" with the default ringer, the phone will ring and vibrate when I get a call. This seems to be the only combination that works. (although I'll keep trying different combos)
If the mode switch is set to the "normal" position, then no ringing - just the alerts work.
So now that I think that I've figured out the work-aroundI'd like to actually find the real fix.
Does this work for anyone else with the no-ring problem?

I noticed this last weekend and after "fooling around" with it, I was successfully able to make it stop ringing and to pop up an immediate alert when I missed a call. No ring, no messaging saying a call was coming in. I did a soft reset and flipped the switch back to the second position, set to Outdoor and wala everything worked fine.

I was having this problem for a while. At the time I had never installed or changed anything on the G. I took it in to Sprint and everything checked out fine. The tech told me he "reset the phone on the network" Whatever! He probably just let the thing sit there until I picked it up. Well, It was fine for about a week. Then it started again! I finally took it back to Sprint. A different tech said the same exact thing. He said the same reset crap. Well the phone still had the problem for a month and then it went away. I really doubt this issue has anything to do with any setting or any software on the phone. Changing the notification settings wouldn't cause the phone to rings hours later after the call came in when I turn the phone on. Thanks!

I can't get mine to vibrate under any circumstances AND i noticed that when you adjust the ring/notification settings in one area (setting - sounds and notifications or settings - phone or volume icon at the top of the screen or use the volume button on the side of the G1000) the other areas don't update. Any suggestions. I know it's a minor issue, but when you pay $600.00 plus for a converged unit - there should be no issues.

Sprint PPC 6601
I have the same problem with my phone. I don't have the wizbar installed. I have called it all day for the last 4 days, I wonder if it is a sprint network thing where phone calls from a different network don't get though as well.

Seems to be working with this configuration
Ok, I have the same problem as many other folks here. After many resets, I still have the same problem. Being an Engineer, I knew there must be something that was different in configuration from when my unit worked to when it stopped working. First, I replaced the battery with a new one. While this helped my battery life situation it didn't help the no ringing situation.
As far as the Sprint network changing, well it does... But that won't effect the performance of the phone except make it better.
The most effective setting that I found is:
Start-Settings->Phone->Options:
- Location (GPS) off
- Phone these settings don't matter
- Other settings don't matter
Start-Settings->Sounds and Notifcations
- Volume: Events are enabled, Programs disabled, other doesn't matter
- Notifications: Disable notifications on everything but Phone:Incoming Call
Start-Settings->Power
- Device Speed: High Speed
