We have 3 i500s, 2 of which work, that ought to find a good home. Their usefulness to us ended now that the wife and I are both using corporate phones (she a Verizon BBerry and I a Verizon XV6800). The service on hers ends late this month. Mine ended back in February/March. We also have 2 cradles, and an extra battery (maybe 2), and some car and travel chargers. You pay the shipping. The 3d phone stopped working and Sprint replaced it last year. I don't remember what happened to the little fellow but I think my wife spilled something on it and that was the end of a perfectly good phone. Contact me if you are interested.

All Jersey boys here...Syeltzin, how do you like the Touch Pro, coming from an i500? Al, how about the VX6800? Don't mean to threadjack, but I may be "donating" my i500 and accessories pretty soon as well.
The xv6800 is good and bad. I use it for business and my corporate e-mail is redirected to the device along with the Outlook calendar and contacts, so my perspective might be a little different from others. For e-mail it is an improvement over the i500. But its shortcomings are annoying.
Plusses: E-mail works mostly OK; I can open Word and PDF files; Internet browsing is pretty impressive, at least compared with the i500; I think Verizon has better phone coverage than Sprint; phone works well as a modem for my laptop where ther is no WiFi (for an added $15/month).
Minuses: Windows Mobile; Office Mobile (you can edit Word docs but you have to dump most of the formatting; thanks, guys); Sent Items in e-mail are not posted until the following day (Seriously, this was the Microsoft team's idea!); it has a GPS chip but unlike Sprint VZ locks it up unless you pay them a monthly fee for GPS Nav (There is a hack posted somewhere on this forum but it is beyond my very limited skill level); synching Outlook contacts wirelessly is a little funky since some of the OL contact fields don't seem to existin OL Mobil, e.g., "Company phone"; I've missed a lot of calls since I can't hear the damned thing ringing in a mildly noisy environment; forget trying to hear somebody on the phone in such an environment; a day or two with this phone will convince you that you really are a greaseball--that's what happens when you press the phone to your ear for a few minutes and then look at the screen! Yuck! I was surely just as greasy with my i500 except that I never knew it!
I still think the i500 was one of the best devices I ever had. What a shame the various phone makers did not want to take advantage of the terrific form factor. As a result technology passed it by. But if all you want is a phone and Palm pilot I still think it is the best. That's why the bride hung on to hers so very long.

Well...I still have my i500 and play with it as often as I can but I cant say I've used it as my primary phone in quite a while. However, there were only 2 other phones (out of I think 8 that I've owned) that have satisfied and impressed me as much as my i500 did. That would be my Blackberry 8703 and my Touch Pro. Now, it's only been two weeks but I feel that the TP can be a long term replacement for my Palm Centro (which I went to hoping to get that i500 experience with newer hardware). I have so far enjoyed this phone every minute that I've used it. It's intuitive, the Bluetooth works, it's really, really fast, the OS is actually stable, and I can run my Palm OS apps with Styletap.
Now, compared to an i500 you're not going to get that great pocketability or durability, but the Touch Pro wins in almost every other regard. I really am happy with this purchase and can see myself sticking with this phone for a long time, which I've never been able to say before about WM phones. The great thing about the i500 was that it worked really well as a phone and still did a great job being a PDA. I feel that the TP mostly accomplishes the same thing.
The two major downsides, for me, is the greasy screen (you will barely use your stylus anymore, so it's fingerprint and head-grease central) and the not-so-clear speaker when making calls (not even on speakerphone). With regards to calls, I think it may be me, but I'm not impressed with the volume and clarity when on calls (although it's certainly passable). Most of my friends think its fine, and I am the deaf one in the crowd, but it's run of the mill Windows Mobile when it comes to the in-call quality. My Palm devices (i500, Treo 600 and Centro) were all very loud and very clear as was my Blackberry. All my Windows Mobile phones (PPC 6700, i830, Tilt, TP) were somewhat disappointing as far as volume and clarity go. Most people don't have these problems, but if you've got less than stellar hearing, you will need a Bluetooth headset to really be satisfied (the sound is incredible through the headset). If you're an Internet junkie or email warrior, someone looking for a mobile office or any excuse to dump your laptop, though, this phone is a hands down winner.
We're in the market for something free or cheap to get my wife by for a few months with Sprint (contract), then she can switch to Verizon. These or something similar would be wonderful. Please reply or contact me direct if you have something we could talk about. thanks
