More ducks and geese

It was so warm today that I decided to go up late this afternoon and check out the preserve. The lighting was very harsh and the cridders were kind of dormant. I was using the 1DMk2N again with the 400L f/2.8 with stacked TC1.4 and TC2 teleconverters. I tried without the TC2 a little, and I honestly don't remember which pictures used it and which didn't. You can't really tell from the EXIF since it doesn't report the second TC. I used them both most of the afternoon. The lighting was very harsh, but I was able to get some nice backlit shots shooting almost directly into the low hanging sun. I was having a tough time with exposure and I forgot to bring my meter. A meter would be extremely handy in this type of situation, because trying to look at the LCD after staring almost directly at the sun is kind of tough. The flying shots again were hand holding this beast. For those that are counting mm, the focal length is 1120mm without the crop factor, and 1456mm with.

Definately great shots... the preserve in the early years afternoon is definately a hard shoot... once summer gets here and sun is more overhead there wont be anymore harsh lighting like we have now...
