well here's the thing... the world of PPC is something of a mystery....
when you "close" a program it doesn't really close it but instead does something like minimize it. So in effect, when you decided you didn't want AIM and tapped that little x in the upper right hand corner it just minimized it.
second, a lot of these IM type applications have a "background process" so that it may notify you of a message or just simply because their application is a memory hog and instead of loading the full 100% when you want it they'll leave 50% running constantly so when you decide to you want to use it, it only needs to open the remaining 50%.
now put either of these scenarios in play and what do you get....your issue.
the application was still running when you tried un-installing it. the prompt said this application hasn't been removed but if you like i can make it look like it's not there by taking it out of the add/remove programs list. you said yes...and x number of minutes later....here we are.
so what's the solution....well if you don't have much on there...go with a hard reset. if you do have much on there then you can either try to manually delete the program...or you can try re-installing it then un-installing it. but make sure, if you do the latter route, you don't have it running. an application like memmaid can help out with that or magic button, or even acb taskman, or phm task manager...
good luck and enjoy...
P.S. if you insist on using IM on your mobile phone then i highly recommends you sign up for AIM Mobile which is free and will allow you to get all your IMs via SMS, or alternatively (if you're a conversation initiator) then you can get a simple application like OctroTalk which is free and supports GTalk, AIM, ICQ along with their respective voice capabilities.
