Red face trouble with MDA as a modem

I have read the threads for Tmobile MDA for modem and followed the instructions from the "pdagold.com" article. But when I connect my device for "new hardware wizard" it says "generic serial" instead of "HTC USB Modem". Can someone help me figure out what I did wrong? I am pretty new to all of this, but want to be able to use the device to its full potential. (I am trying to connect it to my home desktop PC.)

Thanks for responding. I really appreciate your help. I did get everything installed after your tip, but still haven't been able to connect. I am getting an ''error 734'' message~PPP link control protocol terminated. Still working on some troubleshooting, but won't be near my home pc for a few days. Wish me luck!
