anyone successfully run ActiveSync via BT?

I use my laptop to connect to the Internet over GPRS using BT all the time. So here I am connected and surfing away when I decide I want to sync the device.

But ActiveSync says I have no device that supports ActiveSync over Bluetooth. So I check my notebook bluetooth configuration and it supports PIM Synchronization, PIM Item Transfer, and ActiveSync. When I view what is supported on the MDA, I only see Hands Free, Serial Port, and Dialup Networking.

There is a disconnect here somewhere. Even if I unpair and re-pair my MDA with my laptop, the MDA does not show PIM Synchronization or ActiveSync in the list of services from my laptop.

What am I doing wrong here? Has anyone successfully gotten this to work? I just seems logical that if I am already connected over Bluetooth for Internet access, doing a sync while connected should be a no-brainer. (This was something that actually worked with the 6315...)

Nevermind. I figured it out. Here is what I did:

I had to delete the pairing and devices from both the laptop and MDA so that I was starting from scratch again.

But 'this time', I did two things differently. On the laptop I went into the ActiveSync Connection Settings and made sure the right COMx port was selected on the "Allow connections to one of the following" option. I did not have the correct COM port selected for BT ActiveSync (to find the correct port, you need to check the configuration of your bluetooth services on the laptop).

Then on the MDA, instead of pairing the devices using the Comm Manager, I went into ActiveSync on the MDA and clicked on ActiveSync via Bluetooth. It came up and asked me if I wanted to discover a device with that service. Then it dropped me into the Bluetooth settings screen where I selected my laptop and then the ActiveSync service was listed there.

It all works perfectly now.
