*** Cingular 8125 - Limited Memory Problem ***

I am trying to install various software on my Cingular 8125 and I specify to install onto my 2GB SD card. But after I connect to my laptop and it shows that software was installed and to check my 8125, it says that I do not have enough memory. I have * a lot * of memory on my SD card, but it seems software is still trying to install onto the phone memory. Please help. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

what software are you installing? some application, although, you specify to install on a storage card still install to the main memory because of the way the application is designed. Ergo my question...what applications are you installing?

so that is all you have installed?? Here let me walk you through the process...
Click Start
Click Settings
Tap on the Tab labeled System

Now please post two things from here...first the applications that are installed (Click on Remove Programs) and type the list of applications you see there. DO NOT CLICK ON REMOVE that will remove the applications...we just want a list of applications.

Second click on the Memory icon and tell us what you have there.

Okay it looks like you have some files stored in your main memory....
Click Start
Click Programs
Tap Search
Click on the All data and select "Larger than 64 KB"
Tap Search

You will see a list of files that are larger than 64KB, now from all of these files that do show up you'll notice that some of the files have a little square with a smaller square inside. Those files are stored on the storage card, the ones that don't have that are stored in the main memory. In the far right column you'll see numbers which represent file sizes (i.e. 92.7 KB or 102.1 MB, etc...)

So now knowing these two things you should be able to track down files that are stored on your internal memory and move them to your storage card. Now when I say files I don't mean files that you don't recognize (because those could be application files) what I mean is you can move those files like SomeRandomSong.mp3 with a file size of 10.76 MB.

Now in the case that this doesn't remedy the problem then try re-installing the ROM on your device. Personally seeing that you're a Cingular customer I'd go with a custom ROM, perhaps one that has CF built into the ROM...

A Good Custom ROM for Cingular

Make sure you unlock your phone first...check here

If the downloads are slow you can try getting it from my server...just do a search for custom Cingular ROM on my site it should show up...

My apologies for the lengthy post, I was just hoping I could resolve this issue for you in one post as opposed to going back and forth...

Hope it all works out for ya...

Cheers!
