Hey Folks, i'm just curious if there is a piece of software included with the 8125 that allows for a user to remotely control their desktop computer. I know there are third party apps available (LogMeIn, GoToMyPC, etc.), but is there a way to do it included with the 8125? Thanks.
I use the RDS client quite often to access servers and desktops. But for desktops, the desktop must be running XP Pro and not the Home Edition. The Home Edition has the Remote Desktop limited to the Remote Assistance application.
you can use vnc viewer on the Pocket PC. The server installed on your PC. Its free and its protocal can be tunneled using SSH or vpn if you need to get past a firewall.
That free one is ok just not as good alot less you can do with it like file transfer and stuff. The ptvnc also is alot faster and better at compression.
jpmihalk I have a somewhat similar issue. I also can not connect to my desktop computer. No firewalls are on or anything like that. After trying 4 different forums and asking questions for over a month. I may just give up!!!
My problem is when trying to simply share files with my desktop computer. I can SEE the computer, just cant connect to it.

The terminal services client (listed in programs on the 8125) can connect to remote desktop which is a part of XP Pro it is not a part of XP Home so if you have home you'll have to purchase some other option.
In a review for Smartphone and Pocket PC magazine:
"Without doubt, Parys Technografx (PT) Ltd produces by far the best VNC clients for the Pocket PC. There are several of them; WM5 users will want to go straight for their latest product, Pocket Office (PO) – it offers the most for the money: it supports Tight (JPG), the most bandwidth-saving encoding protocol; it supports bidirectional (!) file transfers etc."
