Cingular 8125 Keyboard Backlight

I'm a newbie, but when searching this forum and others I can't find many or any references to the 8125 keyboard backlight timeout problem...you know, the light only stays on for like 3 seconds and you have to push a key to get the light on? Does anyone know if there is a hack out there for the length of timeout? Thanks.

I think this was an issue for ALL Wizards. Also, I don't think there is a fix (registery or otherwise) that has been found yet. You could always play with the registery and see if you can find a fix, if you screw it up too bad you can just hard reset.

Later; Lew

Try This . . .

Use your Reg Edit to edit the backlight reg entry:
Go to HKEY_CURENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight
Then find reg key QKeyLedTimeout
The usual default setting is 6 (meaning 6 seconds)
You can then change to what ever you want - I suggest not going above 30 secs - so change the 6 to 30 then save the setting and then do a soft reset and test the keyboard backlight it should stay on for 30 sec. Let me know if it works for you. Good luck.

Edit Registry - Try this

You can use this to edit - Mobile Registry Editor for WM5

It has been tested with my Pocket PC and Smartphone on Windows XP/2000 and requires the .NET Framework 1.1 to run.

I've gone completely through the registry changing what piqued my interest (and doing more than a few hard resets) and I'm willing to say that there is no registry key on the 8125 that will allow the change... the ledtimeout key does not exist on the 8125... my conclusion? It can only be hardware as it does not seam to be software controlled...

If anyone else finds out anything different (I'm prone to overlook things on occasion), please don't hesitate to point and laugh at me... as long as you also give me the answer...

Thumbs down

The 8125 keyboard led timeout is rediculously short.

My only BIG complaint with this phone.

If anyone finds a fix please share.
