Is it possible to improve the image quality of the Curve camera, via third party software? My images are grainy and lack accurate color rendition (using the existing software controls) in all but bright light conditions.
Typically the picture you get is based on the camera itself and its abilities. You might be able to clean things up in post production but not likely software on the phone is going to fix it.
I just looked at my 8310 and checked on my settings. I have the following:
Default Flash: Automatic
White Balance: Automatic
Picture Size: Large (1600x1200)
Picture Quality: Superfine
Viewfinder Mode: Full Screen
Color Effect: Normal
Store pictures: On Media Card
So what are your settings like? What type of pictures are coming out grainy or is it all of them?
I have exactly the same settings that you described, on my Curve. The camera performs poorly in anything other then bright light (I have noticed that the grain is most noticeable in moderate and low light conditions).
Do you know of any software applications that work on the curve, for image modification (enhancements of contrast, saturation, cropping etc)?
Thanks again....
Barry
Not that I have run across yet. It seems that RIM isn't big on 3rd party apps or tweaks and I base that on the limited number of apps today. I know it had something to do with the API's and RIM only allowing developers a while back.
Have you tried anything off of the camera like Adobe Photoshop Elements? I have a version that works with iPhoto on my MAC so I can do some photo editing.
The issue often times comes down to the lens, and what it is capable of. While I do understand a users desire to have it all in one tiny package I have far better camera's like my Nikon D70 and Canon G9 for taking pictures, camera phones just don't cut it. Someday they might, just not today.
