The IMSI_S problem and many quesions! Please help.

Everything works fine on my Thera. After activation, the phone works great. The minute I close the Watcher program, the phone number reverts to my OLD number (previous) which is not active. The problem is that the IMSI_S field within the advanced settings does not hold its data when saved. The data in that field is always lost once the modem is re-initialized, which causes the number to revert.

Has anyone ever found a fix for this problem? Is it software based? Hardware? Is there a program like QPST that can connect to the Thera and FORCE new settings? If t's hardware related, any simple fix?

I have a second Thera, or actually a toshiba 2032sp. I have searched but cannot seem to find the info needed to convert the 2032sp (sprint) into a verizon phone. Any info would be helpful. Can I simply take the modem out of the Sprint Thera and put it into the Verizon thera?

I have these two Thera's and would like to actually get one working as a phone. I have an active account, I just need a working Verizon Thera that'll hold its settings

Any help would be appreciated.

I have found a simple fix for this problem. Never turn the watcher off just do an OTA and then never turn off the switch or hit the close button. If the modem initializes it will lose the setting again. The pda can still be used as normal. If watcher vanishes, it doesn't mean it has shut down... Just choose it again in programs.

There still has to be a proper fix for this problem. The modem holds onto the old data in that field just fine, so it doesn't have a problem holding data. Just holding NEW data in that field.

For those entering the new data from the advanced menu, this is a horrible problem because when you exit the advanced menu the modem resets and you lose data from that ONE field.

Perhaps someone can hack the watcher program to not re-initialize after exiting the advanced menu?

Can pst overwrite the data in this one field permanantly so that it won't reset?

Perhaps it is just a software problem and the data isn't being submitted to the modem correctly for that field?

After doing an OTA, most phones require you to push the enter button. Since the thera doesn't have an enter button, perhaps that is causing a bit of the data to not "stick"? Do you need to press a button on the thera aftert an OTA to finalize the process?

There HAS to be a reasonable and simple fix to this problem.

Anyone?

How exactly did you activate your Thera to begin with?? I have two (Verizon) that I would love to utilize.

Also - as far as I know, you can't 'convert' a Sprint 2032 to the Verizon network, because they are of course different networks: GSM v. CDMA. If I am in error on this, my apologies.

Regards,

No the sprint is NOT GSM and never has been. They are CDMA also. I have heard of several people who have converted the Sprint Thera to a Verizon. But it's a little complicated.

Verizon will no longer activate the Thera, that's true. But there ARE other companies who will. I'll PM you with the details.

This post has some firmware updates.
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/534581-post137.html

I couldn't get the Watcher to update, but I got the firmware to update from Verizion to Bell.

Before that I had a Roaming problem with Bell. I set te Phone # and home network, but the home network didn't stick. I found using Nam2 I could get the home network to stick, that should work for Version or Sprint models. You should realy just need you Phone # and Home Network as long as your provider will register the ESN #.
