Unhappy Speaker Blown after battery replacement ?

I ordered an extended battery for my aged Thera (bought it off of ebay a while back). I guess they say if it isn't (quite) broke, don't fix it (the battery was showing a little sign of life decline, but its pretty pathetic anyhow.) Anyway, the company sent me some version of it that the charger chip on it wouldn't function with the Thera (alternating orange and green charging lights.) So I carefully took my old battery off its chip and substituted the chip. The new 1400 (it was supposed to be 1200) maH battery works -- but there is no speaker sound. I can only hear through a standard cordless phone / cellphone earpiece head through the jack, no matter how much I fiddle with it.

Did the speaker get fried ? I touched nothing below or around the battery jack and am not about to use jewelers screwdrivers to go below the top layer for a speaker.

I also don't think the new battery is quite what the old one was. I poked around one more time in the case and (of course ended up disconnecting the battery again). When I returned the battery to its place, it was 60% instead of 100%. Its charging back up, I expect a full charge but where did the internal sound go ? Of course its a waste of battery life anyhow, but, this is wierd.

Also, (maybe there's a registry setting)... but with 3.8.0 (5804) ActiveSync, the stupid thing asks me for Guest partnership every time. I just want Guest, not a dialogue box.

P.s. Oh, there it is now -- 100%. Lithium batteries have wierd discharge curves.

thanks

I have no idea about the speaker but the battery charge is normal. On my Thera, if I disconnect the battery, it will be at a 60% charge when I reconnect it even if the battery was at 100%. It must have something to so with memory resetting or something.

If you want to have Activesync run as a guest only, there is a small program that will do this. I had a PDA that would not synchronize with Activesync so it had to be setup as a guest. The program was called ActiveSyncKeys.exe. Run it and set Activesync to "Force Guest Only Connection". Here is a copy of it:
