Disconnecting from the 1x network

I'm not sure if this is just me, or just my carrier (Bell), but when I'm using a data app (IE or Inbox), I cannot recieve calls, not even the call waiting popup shows....callers are sent right to my voice mail. This is part is ok, but when I close the app using the 1x connection, the 1x connection stays active...

Is there a way to force the 1x connection to terminate? Clicking the connection icon at the top of the pda doesn't offer a disconnect option for the 1x internet connection (only when I'm linked up with my companies VPN do I get a disconnect option).

Cheers,

Ken

Hi Ken,

Actually, active connection will have no effect on cell calls. I keep mine active (by accident) sometimes and nothing happens to the detriment of my cell calls. And I get a lot thru work.

Your question, however, was how to disconnect altogether....

This is accomplished by pressing and keeping pressed the red telephone button on the bottom right of the PPC. (the hangup button) It may take 5 or 8 secs but you'll see your tower come back and the connected 'arrows' go away...

Hope this helps, Frank in Ottawa

Actually, after about 20 sec of not using the 1X connection, the connection is put into dormant state; in this state you can receive phone calls.

If you are surfing, all calls will be sent to your voicemail.

As for connecting / disconnecting, you can purchase Spb GPRS Monitor, it has a nice feature of allowing you to connect and disconnect the line by clicking on an icon.

Thanks guys. Your answers explained exactly what I was looking for....I couldn't find anything in the handbook I got or on Bell's website about connection states and how they affect incoming calls.

Cheers
