Question Dead Headset Microphone

Hi,

I got a dead headset microphone input to the PDA. Neither the mono or stereo headsets that came with the PPC 4100 are working. Stereo worked fine when Media Player was launched on the PPC.

Appreciate any help/advice.

Thank you.

Joseph

When you say "stereo worked fine" do you mean over headsets or from the speaker on the PDA itself? I assume you must mean the PDA. If that is the case you could try opening the case and see if there is a bad connection to the jack.

Indeed, I meant the stereo worked through the headset. I will check the connectror then. Thank you and Happy New Year!

I don't know if that will do anything. What I meant to imply was that if you had sound, but just NOT from the jack, maybe there was something disconnected. I guess as long as you are comfortable poking around inside it can't hurt to look.

Now I am FAR from being an electronics expert, but I think these jacks, since they are stereo, have essentially two channels in them. The phone, being mono, only uses one of thee channels. If you look closely at the end of the headsets (jack end) you see a small ring that prevents the headset jack from being inserted all the way. I think this is to get the "phone channel." So maybe just that channel is out??

Assuming you look inside and find nothing you could always try a soft reset and if needed (backup everything first!) a hard reset.
