I received the case today (July 4th) after having placed a backorder with Verizon a month ago. I could not see myself using the "man-purse" and have lived with carying the phone in an extra case for my old T-Mobile phone. I was thrilled to find that I had received my case from Verizon. Here are my thoughts.
Price
$16.95 plus shipping.
What's in the Box
The case came in Verizon retail packaging with both the case and clip included behind the clear plastic.
The Case
The case is made of high quality glove leather lambskin. The top flap has form-fitted velcro. The case is customized for the i700 and fits perfectly with cutouts for all buttons and openings.
It rides high on your hip because the placement of the clip is too low on the case. This gives a tendency for the phone to rotate around with gravity so that the top is down. Although this is functional, it makes you look goofy walking around with your 'cool' phone upside down.
Usage
This case has a clear plastic cover over the button area of the phone and leaves the screen uncovered. Most of the pdaPhone cases to date have either been flip cover cases, or holster style cases. A lot of users have requested an open case like this. With the see-through front, you can answer the phone, or dial a number without removing it from the case.
To answer a call, you can either remove the phone from the case by pushing the button on the top of the clip (attached to your belt) and sliding the phone with case upwards.
Or, if you prefer to remove the phone entirely from the case, you can pull back the velcro from the top and sliding the phone upwards.
Conclusion
Pros- Custom fit case made for all the openings on an i700
- Quality materials
Cons- Clip placement too low
- No screen protection
For less than $17 it is a bargain. The placement of the clip is too low on the case giving the phone the tendency to rotate. I am afraid that the indents in the mount are going to wear over time and allow the phone to ride upside down. I am also scared of wearing my phone on my side without any protection for the screen. If I run into the corner of any object it is likely to crack my display.
