iPad + iPhone 3GS = Best Carputer

Has anyone ever looked at carputers before? I have always wanted to install one and always wished that the iPhone was bigger, thinking that it would make the best carputer. The iPad I believe will find a huge market in the carputer industry. By stock in the company that makes the first carputer mount for the iPad.....just think, MyWi installed on your iPhone 3gs and now you have a roaming hotspot in your car for the iPad. The possibilities are limitless....I suspect a wireless backup camera that works on the iPad will be on the horizon....just have to tie it into a switch that broadcasts the reverse gear......Could an accelerometer be used for the Speed control volume feature if your car does not have it built in?

If I was GM, I would make these standard in every car.....I have said in the past....they have/had Eddie Bauer editions.....they need to make Apple editions and they will corner te market.

I don't think many folks would car about a carputer outside of playing DVDs and PS2 for the kids.

Keep in mind that the folks that post here are not 'most' people and may love the idea. Let's see how the iPad does before we start scoping out a market for the iPadCarputer.

I do agree that an Apple version of any car would do great. Even if it was just a docking station and apple logos in key places. Eddie needed a boost when he got in bed with Ford. Apple is doing just fine on it's own.

Apple could release iCrap and fools would wait outside for days before release just to buy it... My netbook does 10 times more things than the iPad for half the cost...

I can't see it being a carputer. It doesn't have the standards really. A carputer basicly has the standards of a fully blown desktop. Something to hold more than 16-32 gb of music. I would much rather have a carputer with an AT&T card or verizon card or whoever has a good one than using my ipad to access the Internet.

Well. I'm sorry. I take back my previous thoughts. I'm about to be removing my stereo from my car and using my iPhone as my stereo. Would an ipad fit in a double din space in a car? I'm not for sure on it's size.

It would make a pretty good carputer for sure. Although I don't think people need anymore distractions while on the road.

what, u mean the 2 kids in the back seat screaming, your daughter talking on the cell in the passenger seat, you scrolling thru your ipod to find your song to relax to it all while driving down a curvy back road isnt enough? trust me, a carputer is a lot more organized than one would think. they make everything at your finger tips to keep from as much distraction as possible.
